It was time to add some new DNA into my Easter Eggers so I made a trip out to Gleason, Wisconsin to bring home these two pretty fellas. Notice the blue eyes on the Lavender rooster! He was worth the drive!!! These two will be my breeding roosters going forward for my Easter Egger ladies. I'm hoping to offer Lavender, Blue and Splash chicks soon.

I’m a day late but since my house is still loaded down with Halloween candy, I’m sure yours are too. Here is a list of treats that can make our furry friends sick. I had a talk with my kids yesterday about being careful of what they do with their candy. Hopefully everyone had a great last day of October!

I’m back friends. I’m happy to post this lovely update on one of our pups from a previous litter, 3 years old now!

Here is an explanation for you on why I’ve been so quiet the past few months.

I’ve been absent for a while from my page due to navigating some change in our personal lives. Children growing, moving, getting married and some of the feelings that go along with our household structure changing. A breast cancer scare which turns out to be nothing for now. Also a court case that I unfortunately had to be a part of because of something that happened to me when I was a child. Between navigating those emotional hurdles I haven’t been able to handle doing anything extra.

I had planned to hatch through October this year, like I did last year. But, I'm getting tired. So now I am planning to hatch the next 3 weeks and shut down. I may start up again to have chicks hatching in October but I feel I need a month off to take care of myself and for the harvest of our garden and preparation for winter. 6 months of hatching every week has me feeling burnt out. It can be difficult to be that consistent for such a long period of time. I truly appreciate all the support I've received this year. Thank you.

When I was a young teenager, 15 years old I bought my first riding horse. A quarter horse gelding named Keeper. He was young, only 5 years old. I rode him quite a bit for the first 4 years I had him. Then life changed; jobs, college, I got married and had a child. So I didn't give him much time. As a result I gave him to my teenage niece who wanted a horse. She kept him for a couple years until she got busy with her own life, so Keeper came back to me. He stuck around in our pasture for another few years, meanwhile I had Arthur and a knee surgery. After the knee surgery I decided to sell him to a relative. Who after a short time sold him, miraculously to my sister in law Sara. What are the odds! Well, Sara kept him for a couple years and recently decided to cut back on their horse herd. One evening last week I received a message asking where they should turn Keeper out when Nick brings him to me the next day. They gave me my old horse back! That morning I had found a 5 leaf clover. I guess it had a little luck in it. πŸ˜‰
I am at a spot in my life where I could ride again. My knee is healed up good as new and my children are getting older. Things like this make me feel truly blessed.
As for Keeper who now is 22 years old, he will live out the rest of his days here. We are meant to be together. ❀
