As we head into the harvest season, there aren’t as many plants at the moment, but someone has dropped off some great resource books! 💛
We have some trimmings and rescues that will be finding their way into the LOTO before the end of the season.
Since this is our first year, we’re not exactly sure when that’s going to be yet, but we’re not quite ready yet.

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this amazing project, we love this awesome planty community!💛🪴💛

Make Time, not Excuses to participate in this incredible opportunity to learn valuable and actionable information about advocacy and the Farm Bill. 💛👩🏽‍🌾💛

𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴!

Participants from all levels of the food system (farmers, eaters, advocates, etc.) are invited join this training to develop their advocacy skills, particularly those who currently feel unsure how to take action for farm policy change at the federal level.

The training will take place on Wednesday, September 13 from 7-8:30pm ET. Register and receive the Zoom link here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEkf-ugpz0jHNZmmjfuixaGMokbjoKUTZy3 #/registration

What to expect: The first half of the training will provide context around the current status of the Farm Bill and an introduction to some of the most effective tools for grassroots action. In the second half, participants will be guided through the process of finding their representatives, selecting an ask that feels relevant to them, and drafting their own personalized climate story to send to their representative.

We are excited to offer this training in advance of the Farmers for Climate Action Week beginning on September 17 and culminating at the Farm Aid music festival on September 23. The week will feature a coordinated effort to demand that the 2023 Farm Bill prioritize racial justice, farmer-led climate solutions, and communities over corporations. We will share a toolkit for engaging in the week of action next week.

*3 month/ First quarter Status Update!*
Traffic has been pretty variable, which is unsurprising.
We make an effort to check & water things at least every couple of days, if not more frequently. Despite best intentions and efforts, there have been some casualties, and we are working on improvements aimed at certain variables.
BUT! Not every casualty was a complete loss!!
Staff from The Cultivation Lab has collected some of the damaged plant material and has been working to rescue and root them!
This week has been busy, working to sort through, clean & sterilize containers and potting material for the rescued donations, as well as a substantial contribution of cuttings from Director Anié‘s personal collection. 🥰

We are ready to welcome volunteers and visitors to Cultivation Lab on a limited basis. If you, a friend, or group is interested, please message for more information. Hours are flexible to accommodate a range of requests, but limited in quantity due to current staffing limitations.

There’s not a lot in the box, but there’s a good bit of freshly cut kale/brassicas in the water bucket. 😅
There are a few holes from those blasted cabbage moths because I don’t use any insecticides, but that won’t hurt anyone. 🤷🏽‍♀️👩🏽‍🌾

The Farm Bill is one of the most impactful legislation instruments- it effects everyone on a daily basis and it is renegotiated every 4-5 years.
Please check out this information from our friends at HEAL Food Alliance, who are fighting for a better right now!💛👩🏽‍🌾

Food is a basic human right — yet millions of families are struggling with rising food costs and food insecurity.

But we have the power to make access to nourishing food the norm for all people.

Today we are joining the to call on Congress to expand the social safety net to ensure everyone has access to food they can afford!

Join us this week by calling your Congress member in support of a ! bit.ly/CallCongress4FarmBill

Interesting idea! There are several different pots that have been donated, as well as several tomatoes and flowers that are ready to go home with you!
