Love is in the air at Hooley Farms! 💍🐮

Around Hilda Jean’s horn (our adorable miniature Highland), hung a small sign that read “Will you marry me?” We couldn’t think of a more perfect way to pop the question!

Congratulations to Haley and Dominic on their engagement! 🎉💖 Thank you for allowing Hooley Farms- Horses, Highlands & Flowers to be a part of this special memory. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness and love!

🤩Hooley Horse Camp: Session 4 Day 4🤩

We love hearing wonderful stories from our camp families! We loved a recent message from one of our parents:
"Every night my son comes home from camp sharing everything that he has been learning. Normally, he hardly ever shares with me what has happened at school or during his day. This week, he won't stop talking! Thank you!"

Today, our word of the day was Humble — considering others, then yourself. We saw many examples of humility as the campers put others' needs before their own, exemplifying this important value.

Campers got the chance to learn how to drive a horse today and take a ride in our vintage carriage. Ask your camper which United States President rode in this very same carriage! We also got to meet our two Highland heifers, Hilda Jean and Fiona.

In the science lab today, students compared and contrasted all the animals we've interacted with this week — horses, donkeys, goats, rabbits, and the Highland cow.

Fun Fact of the Day:
A horse carries its foal for about 11 months, a cow for roughly 9 months, and a donkey for up to 14 months!

Today's was the 4th annual Hooley Horse P**p Olympics along with our team wheelbarrow races, where we crowned champions in every division! Ask your camper for details. We also did some farm chores to better understand what is involved with owning your horse.

🤩Hooley Horse Camp: Session 4 Day 3🤩

“My mom said I could buy a horse when I get bigger. I think I grew 6 inches last night. How much bigger do you think I would need to get?”
This was a question from one of our campers this week! This parent better start looking for some pasture to put that horse!

Our word of the day was Self-Control: Quick to listen. Slow to speak. Slow to anger. We witnessed many examples of self-control, along with perseverance and integrity, throughout the day. We love seeing how confident our campers are becoming as they learn new horse skills everyday!

Today’s activities included preparing for tomorrow’s Horse P**p Olympics, competing in our horse obstacle course, learning how to identify horses by age and gender, and playing the Integrity Game! We also had the exciting opportunity to RIDE all over the farm—what a fun-packed day!

Additionally, the campers enjoyed spending time with our adorable baby goats, Salt and Pepper. Tina Turner, our nanny goat, is due any day now. We are hoping for some more Horse Camp “kids”!

Tomorrow promises more animal surprises and fun! Campers will be learning how to drive a horse along with getting to ride in our vintage horse drawn carriage.

🤩Hooley Horse Camp: Session 4 Day 2🤩

Our word of the day was Integrity — Do what’s right, when no one's watching!

During our all-group closing session, campers shared many wonderful examples of how they and their friends demonstrated integrity and perseverance throughout the day.

Today was also Cheer Day! Each group — the Appaloosas, Thoroughbreds, Friesians, Mustangs, and Haflingers — created their own team cheers to celebrate their spirit. They did an outstanding job!

We also had the pleasure of meeting more of the Hooley herd today. Campers got to interact with the miniature donkeys, Blessing and Genevieve, along with their adorable baby foals, Jubilee and Jolene! One camper exclaimed, “I can hardly stand all this cuteness!”

Additionally, we introduced Rita and Sue, our newest momma and her foal. Rita, one of our ponies, gave birth last week during camp, and her filly has been named after one of our favorite camp leaders, Sue Griggs!

Fun Fact:
A female donkey is called a Jenny and a male is a Jack. A female baby horse is a filly, and a male baby horse is a c**t.

Today, the campers learned how to saddle and properly mount a horse, followed by taking a ride. In our Science Lab, they participated in a taste test to see which foods our animals would eat, took part in “Integrity Ball” in Character Lab, and continued working on their line dance and decorating a horseshoe in Horse Arts Class.

We can’t wait for Day 3!
