When we consider budgets, our minds typically jump straight to money, 💰 but when considering end of life care for our four legged family members, it can be really helpful to consider these four budgets: Emotional, Time, Physical, AND Financial.

1. Emotional 🩷: Take stock of your mental and emotional well-being. Seeing your pet decline in their golden years and deciding on when to say goodbye can be emotionally taxing. This can certainly impact us as pet owners. The toll it can take on us should not be taken lightly.

2. Time ⏰: Do you have enough time to care for your geriatric or ill pet? End of life care typically becomes more time consuming once you consider administering medications and providing assistance with mobility, on top of the day to day regular care. More frequent veterinary visits may be required and the traveling that comes with it can also become a challenge.

3. Physical 💪🏼: Are you able to physically handle your pet’s needs? Does your dog or cat require assistance such as being carried outside, up the stairs, to their litter box or food bowls? Does the cold weather/snow/ice further limit your abilities to help your pet outside? Are they experiencing more incontinence issues, requiring more frequent cleaning? Are you physically able to administer medications your pet needs? These are certainly concerns that need evaluated with end of life care as well.

4. Financial 💵: Are your pet’s prescriptions, special diets, medications, veterinary visits, treatments within your means, financially? Depending on your pet’s size or medical diagnosis, these costs can climb quickly.

If any or multiple of these budgets are becoming depleted, it is okay to start considering the difficult decisions ahead. There is no need to feel guilt or shame in this. Everyone has these budgets and everyone’s budgets will vary, and that’s okay! There is no judgement. What is most important is that we can acknowledge when these budgets are running low and can make a compassionate decision for our pets before their quality of life becomes significantly impacted. We never want our pets to unnecessarily be in pain or to suffer 🩷

If you have questions about any of these budgets or are interested in discussing end of life care, please text/call us at 260-222-1134 or visit our website at www.serenitymobilevet.com

🌟🐾 As we gather to celebrate the close of another year, let's take a moment to remember our beloved furry friends who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2024.

This year, many said goodbye to your loyal companions, and while their physical presence may be gone, their spirits continue to live on in our memories. 💖

As we reflect on the joy and unconditional love they brought into our lives, let's honor them by sharing a photo in the comments below. Together, we can create a beautiful tribute to the pets we've loved and lost.

To all pet owners navigating the heartache of loss, know that you are not alone. We are here to support you during these difficult times, ensuring your beloved pets receive the compassionate care they deserve as they transition peacefully.

SMVC would like to take the time to commemorate the pets and their families that we personally helped say goodbye in November and December:

💗Baby, Belle, Pepper, Sassie, Reilly, Bane, Monroe Lee, Scooter, Dusty, Maddie, Kora, Sampson, Max, Cooper, Rufus, and Bella 💗

Wishing everyone comfort, love, and healing as we step into the New Year. 🌈✨

After 2 months of waiting, my copy of Dog People has arrived!
