Activities are meant to be a fun way to add extra enrichment into your pup’s day, but we still have plenty of fun even if your dog isn’t interested that day! We love letting our dogs be creative! Today is National Pet Rock Day and we did some arts and crafts. We put some paint on a rock, put Saran Wrap over the rock, put whipped cream on the wrap, and let the dogs go to town! They made some beautiful creations. 🪨🎨🐾

🩵 September Activity Calendar! 🩵

Ruff Resort & Spa is not only a huge advocate for dog rescue, but also a very accepting place for all dogs that can happily stay with us. We accommodate disabilities, behavioral concerns, senior dogs, and everything in between. September is a big advocacy month and though we still have fun things planned for our awesome Ruff Pups, we are also spreading awareness and educating the community this month. We can’t wait!

🏆 DOG OF THE MONTH 🏆

Charlie the Boxer is our August Dog of the Month! His quirky Boxer personality has us head over heels for this gorgeous boy, but we are especially proud of him and his mom for working so hard on Charlie’s training and socialization. Charlie works with a professional training and frequently goes on social outings outside of doggie daycare to help him build confidence and solidify his obedience. He is a rescue dog with a long history of poor health, but has overcome a lot in his short life since being adopted and is excelling at just about everything now! We are so proud of you, Charlie!

Today is also Charlie’s third birthday, so wish him a happy birthday in the comments!! 🎉

💛 SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY 💛

Meet Dodge! He is the BEST boy. Dodge has lived with large and small dogs, cats, and kids. He does very well and would be successful in pretty much any type of home. He loves having a yard to run and play in, but he would not be opposed to an apartment as long as he could be walked or get some energy out in a fenced in park. Dodge is potty trained and kennel trained. He is playful and incredibly loving. Dodge has puppy energy still (he is about a year old) so he needs someone that is able to give him proper outlets for his energy. He is smart and food motivated, working on basic commands. Dodge will be the most loyal dog you ever have! Dodge is adoptable through Love & Paws Rescue.

We are celebrating Winnie’s therapy dog graduation today!! Winnie has been coming to Ruff Resort & Spa since she was a puppy to give her a place to “be a dog” and not have to be in work mode. She absolutely loves it and her mom says it has helped her grow into an amazing therapy dog. We are so grateful to have Winnie as a part of our Ruff family and are so proud of her! 💙🎓

🐎 Kentucky Derby Day: Small Dog Edition 🐎 Check out the small dog daycare group’s dog races today! We had some quick competitors and some others that much preferred to be carried over the finish line. Either way, everyone had a blast! Congratulations to our winners!

🐎 Kentucky Derby Day: Big Dog Edition 🐎 Check out the BIG dog daycare group’s dog races today! The competition was fierce but one ultra fast Ruff pup did prevail! Congratulations to our winners and don’t worry, we gave lots of kisses to the dogs that didn’t place.

Impulse Control and Water Hose Fun!

We can have fun, but also try to reinforce impulse control. Check out the water loving girls we have today practicing their patience then all out playing! It’s been a couple short weeks of inputting more structure into our daycare dogs and we can really tell a difference. We hope you’ll start to see a difference when they come home too! We can’t wait for all the exciting things we have in store.

Threshold Composure Training

Working on manners at gates and door ways with our dogs! Training your dog to respect thresholds is so important and helps everyone have a successful and safe day at daycare. We appreciate our awesome clients who help work on these things at home to give their pups a leg up during these little training sessions! 💙🐾
