While I visited Florida last week I just had to make some time to see some of my lesson kiddos as I miss them ALL very much ❤️ some of my girls had a barrel race Saturday so we did a late night lesson to tune up Thursday.

Sommer and Peyton both ended up winning buckles, Emma and Brinley won some ribbons in the game classes as well 🤩 Audrey didn’t have a barrel race but I got to tune up with her and Jazzy on the pattern, catch up on all of her life adventures, and surprise her because she didn’t know that I was coming!

I am SO proud of all of these girls and how far they’ve come especially as 2 of them are training/seasoning younger inexperienced horses! 💋

Hoping to see more of my girls in December! ❤️

Congratulations Peyton on winning high point p*e wee champion, your hard work is paying off! ❤️

For the last day of camp we split into groups and started with some morning barrel work while the other group went with our awesome camp counselors who demonstrated the different parts of the horses body.

We also painted W***y and had a water balloon fight! We ended the day with a horse show (pics to come 🥰)

Doing some fun drill and barrel pattern work! We focused on how to ride with our legs and body, minimal hand. My beginners learned about our rate spots and how to finish a barrel turn. My intermediate kids worked on pockets and weight distribution and how it affects our turns

Exciting first day at our summer clinic! We started with ground work and learning about the different beats of each gait using different colored leg wraps as well as how to ask for the correct cues with body language working in the round pen. Then we started working on sorting cattle in teams and also learned about chiropractic work on the horses 🤩

The water slide is an absolute hit especially in the hot parts of the day 🤣

How we decide the order of go for working through the pattern since everyone wants to go first! 🤣 these girls crack me up!

Emma working through the double figure 8 drill at the trot today! This is a stiffer style horse that requires a little more work to keep him soft at the rib cage but Emma does SUCH a great job at this!

05/25/2022

Sommer working on the double figure 8 drill today at the lope! Her focus has been keeping her horse driving on the hind quarters into his turns while also using minimal hand on this bendy style of horse!

Beautiful simple change and NO REIN STOP at the end!! 🤩 SO proud of these two! (Their first time doing this drill by the way 👏🏼)

Evee and Willow have only had a few lessons with me and they are already loping around the rail with nice quiet hands, know how to use leg pressure with inside and outside leg, and can explain and know where different parts of the pattern are like their pockets and rate spots 🥰

And I can’t forget how I always get beautiful hand picked flowers every lesson, how special and sweet is that!! 💗💗

I know that I’ve had a lot of interest in a possible Summer camp and I’m here to share some exciting news!

We will be hosting one on the dates of June 2-4th so parents be sure to mark this in your calendar! 😊 details to come!

Kiddos get ready to tune up on and/or learn about barrels, roping, and sorting 💗

Peyton and Nova today! Seeing these two growing together and getting on the same page is so rewarding! Peyton is doing such a great job riding the barrel around at the hip, leaving her turns with a nice snap, and riding with her body and voice with minimal hand! These two make such a cool team and Peyton is such a super star at teaching Nova the right way to carry herself through the barrel pattern and drill work ❤️

I get so many calls about problem horses that have behavioral issues, I listen to the issues to get an idea of what is going on but I never take it too seriously. Why you might ask ? Because 9 out of 10 times it is a miscommunication issue between the horse and rider. And the 1 time that it isn’t its usually a pain issue. Aside from pain related problems, a horse doesn’t wake up one day and decide to act out. Don’t forget that your horse doesn’t speak the same language as you, so you as their rider have to learn how to speak THEIR language! Listen to your horse and take the steps necessary to learn how to do this! Lots of lessons, watch videos, attend clinics, and most importantly make time to ride your horse and work on what you learn! 🥰

Now if it is pain, no amount of training can out train pain. Before I will ride a horse for anyone that has any type of related issues I require that it is seen by a vet and sometimes a chiropractor. Do what is necessary for your horse to feel good and I promise that they will work better than they ever have for you! 💗

These two will be a team to look out for!

Bryce and her mare working on the 4 pole drill. This is a great drill to add in when working on more fluid turns, it requires lots of quick thinking on both sides of horse and rider. This team is working on staying straighter longer, starting their turns at the hip, with a snap when leaving 🤩
Great job Bryce!
