reposting and sharing.....thank you Margaret Au and Chicago French Bulldog rescue...........One thing that sets the merle Frenchie apart from other French Bulldogs is their coat genetics. The Merle gene was never in the French Bulldog breed.
According to experts, the merle gene was introduced to Frenchies by breeding them with merle Chihuahuas somewhere along the line. This means early generation merle Frenchies are not considered purebreds.
