Yuki is getting ready for Christmas with her blue collar to match the Christmas lights! It's time to celebrate the backbone of the team, our dearest Ben! Ben is always willing to lend a helping hand and is eager to teach others, from computer help to medical help. Without Ben, our lives wouldn't be complete. He comes with many years of working in emergency medicine so he is able to keep a cool head in even the most difficult situations. Thank you Ben for all that you do for us!

Today we want to recognize another veterinary assistant, none other than Kris the fantastic! Kris brings a special talent to our hospital, and if you've ever seen any balloon art in our hospital, they are all thanks to Kris! 🎈 He loves bringing a smile to everyone's face, especially those who are having a rough day.

We thank Kris for his great personality and helping make all the pets that come through our door feel comfortable!

Since we are a small but mighty team, we wanted to recognize everyone on the team this week, so what better way to introduce you to our wonderful staff!

Up first is Valerie, one of our lovely veterinary assistants. She comes to us from Texas, and if you ever get to have a conversation with her, you'll hear a "y'all" sneak out occasionally. Valerie also loves cats 😻. We are lucky to have Valerie as part of our team!

It's National Veterinary Technician Week! 🩺🐾 This week we celebrate some of our favorite people who make sure your pets are well taken care of. Veterinary staff should be celebrated all year, but this week in particular we will be recognizing their hard work. If you know a veterinary technician or assistant in your life, thank them extra hard this week, and buy them a coffee. 😁💙

Global Cat Day is a day for all to become cat advocates, be the voice cats cannot be for themselves, and defend cats as we would any member of our community.

National Feral Cat Day is here to remind us of our love of the furry-little kitties, and how every stray cat has within them a loving cuddle-able furball looking for a forever home!

We at Mile Square Animal hospital love cats so much we dedicated an entire room for cats that includes feline pheromones and kitty specific treats!

This week celebrates pets and each day has a different focus for responsible pet ownership.

Preventive care is not only helpful for keeping your pet healthy, but preventive care exams allow veterinarians to find things that would be concerning sooner, before they become a problem. Taking your pet to the veterinarian when they are healthy an happy can also promote a good experience for them, instead of only bringing them into the hospital when sick. Appropriate preventive care can also lead to less costs later on when illnesses arise that could have been prevented. Patient can also hide their illness well, so sometimes it can be difficult for owners to tell if their pet is sick.

February is National Pet Dental Health Month! It may be difficult sometimes to manage the dental health of our beloved pets but it is an important part to keeping them healthy overall and prevent secondary issues that can be caused by dental disease. Brushing your pets teeth and giving appropriate treats are an important part of their overall care.

If there is too much build up on their teeth, anesthetic dental cleanings are a great option to remove that buildup and to get rid of that buildup of bacteria! We are here to partner with you to keep you pet healthy!

Pets are becoming increasingly important in the role of a family and with that comes the opportunities for dressing them up! Not all pets will enjoy dressing up so please don't force it upon an unwilling pet! If you will be dressing your pet up, make sure the clothes fit well, and aren't too tight to cause problems. Make sure you don't leave your pet unsupervised in case they choose to chew on it.

January is a great time to begin healthy habits and so what a great time it would be to take advantage of it by walking your dog! Dogs do have limits on how long they should be walked, based on age and breed as well, but taking them out on a non-retractable leash is a great way to spend some time bonding and exploring your surroundings. If your dog hasn't been seen by a veterinarian in a while, make sure to make an appointment for a visit to check their health and make sure they are doing activities appropriate for their health status. 🐾
