𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙄 𝙗𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙘𝙞𝙧𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙡 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣?

First, what is a perfect circle? I don’t just want to see an amazing ⭕️ in the ground and start running the pattern. The real question is what does your horse look like while loping this circle?

Any horse can run around in a loop, when I’m teaching this to a horse, these are the things I work on.

𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜: this is when your horse is giving into the bridle with his nose and poll WHILE driving through the hind end under themselves (don’t forget this part this is the whole reason for collection!) When a horse is taught to keep their forward motion from the hind end this helps with muscle building & creating tighter and faster turns.

𝙍𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧: are you properly asking your horse to collect? Inside leg is where you ask for bend, outside leg is used here to keep the horse inside the circle. Inside hand is the direction, outside hand is the asking cue for collection.
When asking for the collection, put some pressure into the reins, steadily, without yanking or pulling the horse into the chest. Squeeze your calves into the ribcage, this is asking the horse to pick up their ribcage and start driving with the hindend.

𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨? This is my number 1 rule to get a horse to become snappier around the barrel and have a better take off to the next barrel. When your horse is properly taught how to hold themselves, you’re making their job easier and your job easier. It doesn’t matter if your horse is 3 or 18. This is going to be the key factor to helping you get faster times!

💎 Ronnie 💎

14-15 year old, 15.2 hand, gelding. Had papers but were lost. Previously had EMP 3ish years ago, not 100% sound but would make a great trail horse.

Ronnie does come with some vices we have been working on but he’s going to need someone who can stay more consistent with him. Buddy sour is one.

He is quite the looker though, he’s sweet and friendly. Stands good for the farrier. I think he’s just had a bad hand of cards and needs to find someone to love him. If he doesn’t sell we won’t be mad about it, but offering him if he’s what someone is looking for.

My 12 year old sister was riding him yesterday and he listened just fine.

Seven is a 11-12 hand, 7 year old, grade hackney mare. She originally came from Missouri. We have taken her with on camping trips and does great.

She’s a 18 year old, 15.1 hand Mare. She has been used as a broodmare but she does ride. More of a green broke but if you just want something to trail ride she’s your girl!
