Dogs do not have to be best friends with other dogs. We aim for having them have the ability to coexist happily and comfortably. Added bonus is, they usually make some friends! It’s all about creating positive experiences and associations! 🥰

Some Kiki progress I happened to have on video.

Kiki and her loving family had been traumatized by previous trainers and their methods. None of the other trainers even took the time or compassion to try to Pet Kiki. It resulted in an already terrified pup, becoming an aggression case. She was reactive and a high bite risk to people as well as dogs.

After many weeks we were able to give her access to positive thoughts and have happy moments! She was coming out of her suppression and fear. We reached a point where I noticed she had more of a desire to befriend dogs. After a few weeks of small introductions and positive experiences, we decided try to day of daycare. I am so lucky to have my lovely “land of mistfit toys” and their amazing parents. She was able to work through all thoughts, without risking herself, or others. We found her brain and watched it work!

Training is about progress not perfection. The optical illusion of a trained dog, is not the same as having a dog that is genuinely safe. There is so much that goes into each dogs training plan to ensure they are prepared for the future. We focus on long term satisfaction! Rehabilitation of dogs takes time, patience and understanding.

Daycare has started back up!

Can you spot the two that it was their first daycare day?

The pooping pixie and sniffing Willie, but they acclimated so well!

Our daycare is exclusively for dogs that attend our training classes. It is also very unique that drop off is Monday at 6:30 and pick up is Tuesday 5-6. Why?

It gives the dogs extra time to get comfortable and have fun.

If any quirks are noticed they are addressed right away with the parent and dog.

Most of my clients drive an average of an hour for quality personalized care.

Me and the dogs get to go back to bed after tiny human gets on the bus. 😆

Each dog comes to daycare for different reasons, if it’s not beneficial for them to attend, we do not recommend it. But as long as each dog is progressing, we love having them!

When I say “we” I mean me and my amazing clients. I have a trusted crew of humans who put their dogs first just like me that I adore and could not have been in business for the past nearly 10 years without them! 🥰🥰

Let’s talk aggression…

We love rehabilitating dogs. It is about building trust and helping them understand this crazy human world. Sometimes us as humans don’t realize what is required to have a comfortable, confident, safe dog until the blatant negative behaviors arise. While preventative training is very important, Sometimes it’s not feasible. There are so many factors when it comes to training. That’s why as a trainer it’s important to be non-judgmental, patient and understanding with the humans as well as the dogs! There is so much misinformation out there, and large successful businesses, that will be deceitful just to get a payment. We strive to continue being honest, having integrity and transparency through our 15 years of experience. And sometimes it is difficult, but each dog reminds us that we are doing the right thing for the right reasons!

Recently max was brought to me for an evaluation after a severe bite to a neighbor. It can be discouraging to the pet parent, When the dog chooses to fight more than flight, but it’s also important to understand why the behaviors arise, and how to solve them! And it takes a very strong person to be open minded and put the dogs needs first. We commend those that seek long-term satisfaction, versus instant gratification, suppression and negative reinforcement tools. We love making a difference, one dog at a time. Reaching out is the first step!

We love our dogs. Blizzy is a great example of a dog who was not so great with humans and dog’s originally. Her family and I have worked very hard to accomplish this trustworthy, happy pup!

Side note admiral (pitty) is available for adoption. You may recognize him because I fostered him back in March when his elderly owners were unable to care for him anymore. He eventually was taken back into the care of the SPCA of Fredericksburg ,where he originally was adopted from. He has been at their facility for nearly a year at this point. He also comes with training classes to help transition him into the new home.

Spotsylvania Animal Shelter has tons of adoptable dogs including taffy and Joey! Our goal is to have dogs suitable for all environments, non reactive and understanding owners. We had an amazing group of volunteers that helped remind us that good people are out there!

Joey is a young adult brown hound. He was a stray originally. He is learning how to be a “house” dog though. He is mouthy like a puppy. he is emotional and has a bit of anxiety. It causes him to take a bit to get comfortable. His anxiety causes him to whine and occasionally not eat a meal. Thankfully because he has now been here three weeks I get to see the awesome loveable boy! ❤️He is very dog friendly but a bit awkward with people. he would love to have a dog playmate that is dog friendly. Keep in mind when adopting dogs not all dogs like other dogs, even if they have the ability to coexist with them. He is very friendly with people but will take a some time, patience and positivity!

However if you are looking for a dog that prefers people Taffy is your dude! in normal hound fashion he is food obsessed, so we are working on encouraging 4 feet on the floor rather than the counters. He can be a bit possessive over food on the ground but only towards other animals so far. And easily redirected! He is such a good boy! He is working on potty training. So frequent bathroom breaks are needed. He likes playing with a few dog friends, otherwise he prefers his humans or snacks. He currently has not had any interest, other then some negative people about my attempt at a Christmas tree with temporary hair dye. I love adding color to the pups. Helps them stand out, they are festive for the parade, they get extra snacks and love.You might recognize Taffy because this is the second time I’m fostering him. I fostered him back in July for that parade, but sadly did not have enough human helpers.

Taffy and Joey are great hounds! Both are available through Spotsylvania Animal Shelter. They are good boys that need forever homes. They were both found as strays and had been at the shelter for a while. They do not have to be adopted together, but they have became friends! I am fostering both of them. They were part of the Louisa Christmas Parade & Festival and will be part of Stafford County Christmas Parade!!!

Porter was attacked a few months back by a neighbors off leash dog, on their property. His owners were told he was the problem and he is aggressive. After a few sessions we had him playing at daycare and even coexisting with the house cats!! He is lucky to have humans that reached out!

It takes a lot of work to achieve calm Leash walking. This is just a quick example using daycare dogs. My kids did so good and worked so hard. We focus on teaching what is appropriate, in a way that dogs understand! Our dogs are companions and members of the family.

Please share video. Tony needs a forever home or rescue! He has a temporary foster. 3 yr old neutered male. Can be mouthy, so No kids under 10. Good with dogs and positive, patient people! Kennel trained, decent at sharing toys and food with humans. Located in Fredericksburg Virginia. Tony is in our training to help him find the right forever home. He also has been to the Spotsy Dog Park Inc. and attended doggy daycare. He did great at both! No need to drive out of state to find your next furry friend! Lisa Sperry McConnell already did that. She drove to Florida to save Tony from euthanasia due to overcrowding. No bite history. Unfortunately, when she returned to Virginia, the foster and rescue did not follow through on their commitment. Now he needs a quality rescue or adopter! Please share video. Tony needs a forever home or rescue! *adopted* Meet Marvin our foster! Young adult male from Spotsylvania Animal Shelter After being returned several times we decided to foster sweet Marvin and see if we could help him find his forever people. He has some separation anxiety, but nothing some proper positive crate training could not fix. He has a BIG bark, so even though it’s only a few barks, they sound loud. He is a big, strong boy. We have seen ZERO aggression from him, and we put him through all situations. Please reach out to us prior to surrendering your dog. The shelters are overflowing, and a lot of times seeking help from a professional can help a dog stay in its home!
