Finn's will meet you in the Dunkirk area if you find a kitty you want to meet. Go to their page to get pre-approved.

Please stand together and adopt local. Chautauqua County currently has a severe cat crisis. With all of the local rescues being overcrowded, the cats on the streets have nowhere to go.

Support local rescues. You never know where life will lead and if you find yourself in a situation where you can't keep your pet, you will be glad you did.

There will be adoptable cats, kittens and guinea pigs available for adoption tomorrow at Tractor Supply Company on Vineyard Drive in Dunkirk. The adoption group will be there from 11 am until 3 pm. Stop in and visit some Chautauqua County animals available for adoption.

The two cats pictured were found at a farm in Forestville where many people abandon pets. The farm has been overrun with kitties and most of them are friendly. The homeowner is doing everything possible to help them but she does not have the ability to care for the never-ending supply of strays that show up on her property. This is just another example of the serious situation we have going on in Chautauqua County right now. With not enough rescue resources, animals have no place to turn.

Choose adoption and please adopt locally. The cats in our area are in trouble. We need to use Chautauqua County resources to save Chautauqua County cats. The rescues are drowning in them and as of right now, there is not a single rescue in our county that is accepting cats. Think about that, ZERO organizations that are able to help. This leaves a lot of animals in jeopardy and their lives depend on YOU!!

It’s a beautiful day to adopt a new furry friend. The beautiful cats and dogs from Lakeshore Humane Society are ready and waiting to go home with you today. If you see someone you love, fill out an application at their website or stop by open hours on Saturday from noon to 3.

Please adopt local. Every time an animal finds a new family, it opens a space so another Chautauqua County cat or dog can also have a chance at happily ever after.

*****Correction/update: This page is not run by a rescue or a business. This page is run by a group of individuals who volunteer for various organizations and see the desperate need we have in our area for more rescue resources. When you see organizations in videos, doing happy animal things, we are only sharing their post, their stories and events. We share posts of upcoming events, current events and any fun local/Chautauqua County activities. As long as you don't regularly ship in animals from other states while charging a fee to help the local ones, we are happy to share your stories too****

It’s that time of year again and sadly we are missing a few of the local rescues at this adoption week event. We wish all of the animals at the local pet store a happy and healthy life. We want nothing more than to see ALL animals get their happily ever after. Sadly, for many in Chautauqua County, that happy ending will never come.

Today we are asking you to please consider supporting our very own Chautauqua County rescues. We need you. Please do your research. When you adopt from larger organizations that ship cats in from other areas, you are taking a home away from a Chautauqua County animal in need. Our shelters and rescues here can’t take animals in if all our residents are adopting cats from organizations in other counties. Helping adjacent counties is honorable. Shipping in hundreds of cats from other States, is sealing the fate of many Chautauqua County cats.

During this quarterly adoption week, tell your friends to adopt from local rescues. Remind them of the fate of the cats in our area right now. They are being killed and the truth is, just because they are not being ‘euthanized’ does not mean they aren’t dying when shelters/rescues have to say no because the organizations with the most resources, the most followers and the most support, are shipping cats in from other places to keep up with demand but refuse to help local cats without a donation that most of our community cannot afford.

This week's showcase. Please stop by and meet some of the beautiful cats and kittens from Finn's Furever Feline Rescue. You can learn more details in the video on his page.

Harriet is an approximate 1 1/2 year old female kitty. She is very sweet with humans but can be a little sassy with other cats. She does ok with other cats as long as she has enough space to do her own thing. She is a beautiful dilute torti. She was found in the Town of Pomfret and never claimed. She is now fully vetted and ready to go home with you today.

Please help Harriet find her furrever human by sharing this post.

All of our cats come from Chautauqua county. While we love and appreciate all animals lives, we firmly believe that we need to help those in our area before we bring them in from other areas. Please consider adopting from one of our amazing Chautauqua County rescues.
