Join us as we come together to learn about Oaxacan farming practices directly from farmer, Miguel Avendaño Reyes. Miguel who is from the Zapotec region of Oaxaca, Mexico. Miguel will take us through plant varieties, growing methods and other considerations during our time together. English and Hmong translation will be provided from the original Spanish presentation. Participants will have an opportunity to tour Miguel’s farm to see the plants up close and ask questions. Light refreshments will be provided for all participants.

Únase a nosotros para aprender sobre las prácticas agrícolas de Oaxaca directamente del agricultor, Miguel Avendaño Reyes. Miguel es de la región zapoteca de Oaxaca, México. Miguel nos guiará a través de las variedades de plantas, métodos de cultivo y otras consideraciones durante nuestro tiempo juntos. Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de recorrer la finca de Miguel para ver las plantas de cerca y hacer preguntas. Se proporcionarán aperitivos para todos los participantes.

Missed out last Hugelkultur workshops? Had to leave early and didn’t get to see how to fill a sunken hugel bed? Join us this Saturday for our last hugelkultur workshop of the season! We will be demonstrating how to build super water efficient sunken garden beds that will store water and feed the soil.
No previous experience required! You do not have to register. Just attend 🤗

GET YOUR VEGGIES!
This weekend we will be setting up farmers markets at 2 local high schools!

On Saturday, March 9th we will be at from 10am-2pm.
On Sunday, March 10th we will be at McLane High School for the first Farmers Market at their school!

Come out and support the students and staff that have worked so hard to put these markets on! Both markets will feature local farmers, local vendors and food trucks! On Sunday, student clubs at McLane will also be hosting fundraisers! Come support!

No volunteer day this Thursday😔, but we will be there on Saturday. Normal hours are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 8:00am-11:00am. We are back on schedule after the break so we are exited to see familiar and new faces😄.

The holidays are approaching and the team at Yo’ville will be taking a break. Our last volunteer day for the year will be Thursday December 21st. Our volunteer hours run from 8:00am-11:00am feel free to drop by anytime!

This Saturday, we are partnering with Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF) to host a workshop at the African American Farmers of California (AAFC) Demonstration Farm Site! Register here: https://caff.org/event/african-american-farming-practices/

Come learn about specific Fall and Winter crops, their cultivation practices and some recipes specific to the African American community. A Farm to Market 101 for beginning farmers will also be held covering the 5 most commonly used markets by small farmers and best practices.

Hey everyone! Just a heads up that we will not have a volunteer day tomorrow. In the mean time, enjoy some of the pictures from one of our seed activities with have with kids at YoVille! As you can see, some are harder than others and the amount of seeds are quite surprising 🌻
