It's an honor to recognize Sue on International Woman's day. Don and Sue worked hard, side by side with their little family to build the pet super store we have today. At 99 years old she doesn't have the opportunity to visit the store as she used to, but she is in our hearts each and every day. If you've had the opportunity and pleasure of meeting Grammy Sue, as all the "kids" at the shop call her, you know love, kindness and hugs like no other. Here's to you Sue, the orignal Boss Lady.

We are facing a space crisis here at our shelter. EVERY SINGLE LARGE DOG KENNEL IS OCCUPIED. We are working hard to save lives, but we need our community's help to do it.

Here is how YOU can help us:

🆘Please consider FOSTERING a large dog. Even if it's just for a few days, that will give us some time to figure out how to get dogs to rescue partners and make more space.
🆘 If you find a stray dog in Fresno County, please CALL US FIRST! We may be able to help you reunite the dog with its owner without it needing to enter the shelter.
🆘 Please consider ADOPTING a large dog, we have so many incredible dogs here who are waiting for their forever homes.

SMALL ANIMAL / BIRD / DOG & CAT SPECIALIST
Daily duties include: Cleaning, watering and feeding small animals, primary rats, mice, guinea pigs, hamsters and small to medium birds. Customer service, educating and assisting customers. Stocking shelves, keeping merchandise and store clean. Maintaining store conditions.

FISH SPECIALIST
Job duties will include: Helping customers make informed decisions about the pets they are interested in caring for. Cleaning and caring for fish and aquatic plants. Keeping up store conditions. Stocking shelves. Customer service, educating and assisting customers.

REPTILE SPCIALIST
Job duties will include: Caring for and cleaning habitats of rodents, insects, spiders and reptiles. Stocking shelves. Keeping up store conditions. Customer service, educating and assisting customers by helping them make informed decisions about the pets they wish to care for.

Candidates must have a genuine interest in educating and serving customers, be a hobbyist/enthusiast and be willing to learn new skills, take direction and be a team player. Being a team member at Whitie’s Pets can be physically demanding, requiring moderately heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for long periods of time.

Applicants should be knowledgeable about our animals and products in order to provide topnotch customer service.

In celebration of World Spay Day, CCSPCA will be offering 40 free spay/neuter surgeries for cats and dogs on March 1, 2022. The annual and international campaign promotes the life-saving benefits of spaying/neutering pets, an issue that is increasingly important in the Central Valley.

To secure a spot, interested clients must call (559) 237-1150 on World Spay Day, February 22, 2022. Phone lines will open at 8 a.m. sharp. CCSPCA will accept calls until all 40 spots are filled. Due to the limited nature of this offer, only two pets per client is allowed.

Surgeries will take place on March 1, only. Drop off is between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. - no exceptions. Pets must be at least 4 months old and current on vaccines or over 6 months old without vaccines, and no older than 5 years of age. CCSPCA will be accepting a mix of breeds and genders. Dogs and cats must be current with their rabies vaccination and must present a valid certificate. CCSPCA will offer dog rabies vaccines for an additional $10 and cat rabies vaccines for an additional $15, if needed.

In 2021, CCSPCA saw more than 16,000 animals come through its doors. That’s approximately 44 animals per day. Spaying and neutering pets is a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation and increases chances of living longer and healthier lives. There are also medical and behavioral advantages. According to the American Veterinarian Medical Association, spaying or neutering pets can dramatically reduce or eliminate certain cancers that develop in dogs and cats. Additionally, altered dogs and cats are less likely to bite or become aggressive, mark their territory, escape from home, or get hit by cars while searching for mates.

Created as Spay Day USA by the Doris Day Animal League in 1995, World Spay Day is now a program of The Humane Society of the United States, Humane Society International and Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association. This year, February 22 is designated as World Spay Day with spay/neuter events taking place nationwide throughout the month.

Can anybody find our big dogs some ‘buddy’ to love? To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we’re reducing the cost of all large breed adult dog adoptions to $50! Each adoption includes:

A spay/neuter
Fresno city dog license (if applicable)
Vaccinations (DHPP, rabies, and Bordetella)
Single dose of dewormer for roundworms
Single topical dose of flea/tick preventative
Free vet exam
Microchip.

This promotion does not include puppies. Exclusions apply. Additional fees may apply for extra procedures, medication, or special needs animals.
