Growing up with dogs, I have always considered them to be my siblings, best friends, confidants, and protectors. Some of my fondest memories are of the dogs from my childhood and of those I have helped rescue, but there’s one who became more than just my dog; he became my inspiration and business partner. In 2011, while visiting a local shelter to transport a senior Lab named Monty to his rescue, I met a sweet and wiggly boy named Tracker. I didn’t know it at the time, but that meeting was the beginning of a beautiful friendship that would take us both in a new direction.
When I loaded Tracker into the car, I quickly realized he smelled like fish. That smell was so strong in the small confines of my car; I drove us home with MY head hanging out of the window. It was a sight to see and good for some laughs from other drivers! That’s when my furry friend got a new name; Trout Wigglebottom (the middle initial “D.” was added later, but that's another story).
Once we were home, he went straight to the tub for a much-needed bath, but there was a problem. It took several rounds of lathering up to get rid of the fishy odor, but the shampoo smell afterward also left much to be desired. Plus, it made his skin dry and his coat dull. That’s when I decided there had to be a better dog shampoo that would not only make dogs smell great, but would also be good for their skin and make their coat shiny and soft.
