They are loyal, intelligent and beautiful animals and it breaks our hearts to think of them suffering or dying in shelters, or worse yet, dumped on the street. We are a 100% all volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue. We are funded through adoptions and donations from people just like you. Our hardworking and dedicated team is made up of GSD lovers who give up their time to care for and find loving

forever homes for the dogs in our program. The team has fostered and saved over 1,500 German Shepherd Dogs since we began in 2013! Most of our dogs come from shelters where they have been abandoned. Some come from owners who, no longer able to care for them, give their dog to us to find a loving forever home. The good news is that we encounter few dogs that we feel have been abused or seriously mistreated. Each dog that comes into our program is evaluated to the best of our ability. Our evaluators have many years of experience with the breed and have spent many hours learning dog behavior and language, worked with trainers, spent countless hours at shelters, etc. We strive to have dogs in our program that are people and dog friendly and we are firm believers in providing our adopters with full behavioral and medical disclosure on every dog in our program. Our dogs are placed in a foster home that is experienced with the breed or a daycare facility where they are evaluated for social skills with other dogs. Once we have spent some time getting to know each dog, we make the dog available for adoption. When you apply to adopt one of our dogs you will go through our adoption process where we learn more about you, your experience and your lifestyle. Our goal is to make a perfect match so our dogs stay with their new family and everyone is off to a good start. Many of our adopters decide to volunteer by fostering, fundraising, walking/grooming/transporting dogs or becoming matchmakers and helping more dogs find that perfect home. It’s a rewarding activity (no matter how big or small your role) that every rescue (and rescue dog) is grateful for. If you don't have the time to volunteer, you can donate. A big, loud WOOF WOOF to say thank you to BIG WOOF PET SUPPLIES AND SPA in Lafayette for their rescue partnership. They hosted a fabulous day of pet portrait photography by TONYA PERME (gorgeous photos) and donated part of the proceeds to BAGSR. It's lucky I didn't live closer, I would have taken the pack in!

Little boy JASPER is almost ready for his big debut!! This little one was at the Manteca shelter with a broken leg. He was so young and only 13 lbs. We don't know what happened to this baby but he's all healed now and almost ready for his new home. He's about 10 weeks old and just as sweet as can be.

We all know puppies are cute and also a ton of work. If you are looking for cute AND easy going, don't forget about ROSE. She's a senior BUT she doesn't know that. She's ready for whatever adventures come her way. She loves hiking and wading through the creek and going everywhere with her foster fam. After all the fun is done, she'll be happy to climb right in your lap and hand out the love. Rose is a Dutch Shepherd. She is beautiful and sweet and great with dogs and people. Please welcome JUNO to the family. She's an 8 month old Anatolian/GSD blend and one happy puppy. She loves to play with other dogs and is super duper people friendlsy. She does need to learn boundaries but she will pick it up fast. She will most likely be a big girl. More to come as we get to know her.

Well, shoot. We thought this handsome boy might have found his home but it wasn't meant to be.
This is INDY and he's just a big handsome hunk of dog. He's a friendly guy and he's been at the shelter just waiting for his home for sooooo long. He's about 7 years old, fully vetted, healthy and ready to join you in whatever it is you like to do. Please consider checking him out. If you are looking for a great big cuddle-bug, Indy could be your boy.

Sweet Sasha is still looking for her new fam. She is a bit shy and asked for a gentle person and maybe even a gentle dog friend, to show her the ropes. She is just about a year old, great with other dogs and has never been aggressive, she's just a bit unsure of the world. She is a nice blend of GSD (mostly) with a hint of Siberian Husky (although she doesn't resemble the husky part). She's a great size and she's very smart. She's pretty good on her leash, doesn't pull but may still startle. She will bond hard to her new person/family. For more info, go here:
