Marilynn, the mother, is a knitting and weaving designer; Kirsten, the daughter, is a knit-wear designer. Most of what you see in our Etsy shop at the moment is Marilynn’s work; Kirsten’s work is mostly on Ravelry (username: skandi),
where she sells her knitting patterns and chronicles her knitting for her two very active kids. From time to time, Kirsten will have some products for sale on Etsy; check with us if you want to order one of her knitted creations. Marilynn has been a fiber artist for most of her adult life, taking sabbaticals to raise kids and various household pets, and to teach and consult with small businesses. But her passion is making beautiful textiles. She especially likes seeing her creations on other people! And, in reality, making cloth out of strings is magical – she can hardly believe it each time when a new scarf or sweater is created from manipulating fibers! Weaving beautiful cloth is a way for her to express the beauty she sees all around her in her home town of Boulder, Colorado, and on the trails and foothills she can explore there. The journey from growing up knitting for five siblings to being a clothing designer has taken many twists and turns. Most of what Marilynn weaves and constructs is made from natural fibers: silk, wool, cotton, linen, rayon. These are the most elegant fibers – and also the most expensive! Our Etsy shop has one-of-a-kind creations, such as scarves, small handbags, towels, and an occasional rug or runner, depending on what Marilynn is exploring at the time. You may also custom order anything you see on the site – or something you don’t see! There is a special section for essential elements, Marilynn’s designs for sophisticated, elegant women’s accessories and clothing. You can see all of the presently developed products on her Essential Elements website and order them in this shop. All of the essential elements products are made to order. Check the website or the product description in the shop for estimated delivery times.
