The fireworks might be fun for us—but for our furry friends, the 4th of July can be terrifying. In fact, more pets go missing on the 4th of July than any other day of the year, with shelters reporting a 30-60% increase in lost pets during the holiday.

Here are some important tips to help keep your pets safe and calm this Independence Day:

🔒 Keep them secure
Make sure your pet is indoors before the fireworks begin. Double-check that doors, windows, and gates are secure. Always ensure your pet is wearing a collar with up-to-date ID tags—and that their microchip info is current!

🦮 Take them for a walk earlier in the day
A long walk or play session can help burn off excess energy, making your pet more relaxed when the fireworks start.

🐾 Create a calm, safe space
Designate a quiet room with their favorite bed, toys, and maybe a white noise machine or soft music to muffle the sounds.

🌿 Natural calming solutions
-Calming chews or treats with ingredients like L-theanine or chamomile
-Thundershirts or calming wraps that apply gentle pressure and help ease anxiety
-CBD-based pet products (only those safe and approved for pets)
