The first week at our new location was full of joy, love, and a little bit of heartbreak, as is the nature of our business. We wanted to share some of the stories with our supporters to let you know how your donations make a difference every time a patient steps through our door with a pet in need. (See photo below)

“This past week at St. Francis Vet Care, we opened our doors to pets and families who had nowhere else to turn. Every day, we see firsthand how deeply people love their pets—no matter their financial situation, no matter the challenges they face. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to say yes when these families needed us most.
We met a 72-year-old woman living on just $890 a month who was heartbroken at the thought of not being able to afford her pet’s care. We were able to provide annual vaccinations, heartworm testing, and flea and heartworm prevention—and set up a manageable payment plan that aligns with her Social Security check so she never has to choose between buying food and keeping her pet healthy.
An 11-week-old puppy bounded through our doors, a new member of a single-mother household caring for a disabled daughter with autism. With puppy vaccines and deworming, we helped ensure that this young pup will grow up strong and healthy—on his way to becoming a much-needed service companion for his family.
A disabled widow came to us with her 14-year-old senior dog battling heart and liver disease. She didn’t know how to say goodbye or what options were available. We walked with her through hospice care and, eventually, a peaceful euthanasia, easing both her pain and her pet’s suffering in their final moments together.
A woman recently left living in her car with her three dogs worried about their health but had no means to afford basic care. We provided nail trims, annual vaccinations, and palliative care for her senior pet with heart disease—because no one should have to face these challenges alone.
A homeless veteran came to us with his beloved dog, whose injured foot had gone untreated for weeks after being unable to afford veterinary care. We treated the injury, giving both him and his best friend the relief they desperately needed.
This is why we do what we do. These are not just patients—they are lifelines, companions, and family members to people who need them most. Each owner gave what they could towards their pet’s care, but every dollar donated, every act of kindness from supporters like you, allows us to keep saying yes to families who have nowhere else to turn.
We can’t do it alone. If these stories moved you, please consider making a gift today at www.stfrancisvetcare.org/donate. Your support gives hope, healing, and dignity—to pets and the people who love them.”
