As a dog breeder I feel it necessary to inform any one who is considering a new dog, whether it be a puppy or an adult dog to not get caught up in the excitement and commit to an animal who doesn't come from Health tested parents! Dogs are just like people when it comes to health. I recently had a young female Boykin I was training for a nice gentleman who at 10 months old was going blind! She had a disease called collie eye anomaly! It is an inherited disease that you can test breeding dogs for! Also another lab I was training had an EIC episode! It is a condition where the dog becomes temporarily paralyzed. It is brought on by exertion! Several dogs have drowned because of this disease! It to is an inherited genetic disease that you can test for! Please before you commit ask the breeder if they health test their breeding dogs and if the answer is anything other than Yes you should probably move on! Unless you want a dog that you're likely to get very attached to be one with issues!

God had a gift waiting on us this morning when we went in to check on Pink and the pups!

The pups eyes are open! Baby blue eyes looking up at us, taking in light and all that surrounds us! 🥰

Pups are 15 days old today 🥰
Mom got good exercise this morning, ate breakfast and went back to Mom mode before we left the whelping room.

This little guy is giving us all the hints that he will love belly rubs! Two weeks today! Pink x Jones pups are growing, they’re healthy and best of all — they have the best Mama ♥️

Pink is such a great Mom! We love watching her run and play every day to get good exercise. We are firm believers our dog moms need breaks just like all mamas do!

After every break, Pink does what Mamas do! She counts each pup with her nose 🥰 Positions herself to nourish and feed them 🥰 Then, lines them in a row ♥️

Lord, thank you for this blessing to witness our healthy, loving mama pour her heart into caring for these special, precious pups. You are so good! It is a gift to serve You! ♥️

Only God!!

Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words:
Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith.
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letterbox at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies.' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page were the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:
Dear Meredith, Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help and I recognized her right away.
Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank you."

🐾 TINY TOP KNOT 🐾

Those eyes 😍 I was talking to a friend who has a Boykin earlier this week. I couldn’t remember if she’d had him since he was a pup or gotten him when he was older.

When I asked, she replied, “I’ve had him since his eyes were blue.” This made my heart smile ♥️

From the day our Boykin Mamas whelp their pups, to the day their eyes open, every day is a blessing. Boykin Spaniels are known for their amber eyes and their eyes change from blue to green to golden amber.

Jock (pictured) is 11 weeks. Won’t be long before the green is out and gold will be in! 😍

Gauge has the best seat in the house! He’s cruising Florida waters today on this gorgeous Saturday!

Two weeks ago, he met his fur-ever family for the first time and today he’s soaking up the sunshine in the Sunshine State! ☀️ Talk about Living The Life! (Can we trade places? 🙋‍♀️🤣)

Sweet Lulu calls Florida home! This sweet girl will reside in down south in the Sunshine State to join many more of our Lockhaven family members.

Lulu is curious and loves to explore. She’s independent and fearless. Excited to see her grow and become a source of joy and blessings every day for her new “Mom” and “Dad” ♥️

Lulu will meet her new “sister” once she arrives at her new home. This couple has another Lockhaven Boykin — that is the littermate to our Jolene and Bean.

Take a step back today and look at the big picture God has painted for our lives. He is the ultimate artist! It’s amazing how He works in our lives daily for a greater good and purpose all for His glory! 🙌🥰🙌
