The adventure of the 4 Pound Ranch began in 2010, when I purchased a Miniature trio 2 Does and a Buck. I have been helping my brother who raised large goats during kidding season and thought "I'd like to have some goats, but not huge ones. From there I began my search to find them. We began with just a small closed in area with a chain link fence. As they got a little older and I came home with a

couple more Does, the pen expanded little by little until we finally had our beginning herd of 7 and then 9. Goats have personalities all their own. No they do not eat cans, in fact they are very picky about what they eat. They can be very loving and the miniature breeds can be smaller than a lot of dogs. In fact most of Miniatuare have been sold as Pets. A couple of years ago I brought home some Angora goats, they are just so pretty. We harvest the fiber 2 times a year becaue it grows so fast. After hand processing, it can be spun, felted, weaved, etc. Mohair which is what the fiber from Angora Goats is called, is very soft and shiney and is used to make clothing, scarves, hats, rugs, wall hangings doll hair and muliple other items. Nubians are well know as being the big goats with the long ears. They are raised for their high volume of Milk Production. As e venture into the Nigoras and Mini Nubians, we find them the have the same great personalities as their parents. We have raised chickens, rabbits, ducks, geese, donkeys, along with the goats, but have pretty much settled on the goats now. We still have a few chickens, but the goats require most of our time now. I may not talk much but if you get me started on Goats , I can talk all day. Such a true Blessing of God for us. I thank God for them every day.

"Sad night last night but today is a brighter day. The ewe (female sheep) on the left lambed a stillborn and we were unable to resuscitate it. She cried most of the night longing for her lamb after we removed it.

The ewe on the right lambed twins last week, though they were very small. It seems that today she has given one of her twins to the grieving mother to raise as her own. This is a photo of them together with their new children."
