Santa’s Reindeer are officially cleared to land in Nevada🎅🏻

GREAT NEWS!! Just in time for Christmas! 🎄The Nevada Department of Agriculture, in an online post, says that Santa's🎅 reindeer 🦌 have been officially cleared to land in Nevada by the interim State Veterinarian's office, as is a requirement of all animals entering the state per NDA compliance to help stop the spread of disease. Thus, giving Santa the go-ahead to bring the magic of the season to Nevada, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Thank you Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital for this reminder! Rawhide is NOT digestible and can cause an obstruction if eaten in large bites which requires surgery to remove. Stick with bones that say "100% Digestible."

Please just don't.
Every year the rawhides come out and people who don't understand, buy them for their beloved dogs.
Just don't.

We strive to provide the best for our furry friends, but sometimes what seems like a harmless treat can hide potential dangers. There have been documented cases of dogs with pieces of rawhide lodged in their windpipe, stomach, or intestines, creating choking hazards and an intestinal blockage, gastrointestinal distress, such as vomiting or diarrhea, can occur if rawhide irritates the digestive tract . Since rawhide is a byproduct of leather, some items pose a significant challenge to a dog’s digestive system when it comes to breaking down.

During the manufacturing process, rawhide is often soaked in a cocktail of chemicals to preserve it and enhance its flavor. These chemicals can include formaldehyde or chromium salts, hydrogen peroxide and bleach, which may pose risks to adult dogs and young puppies alike.

Safer alternatives like completely digestible Himalayan yak chews, dehydrated sweet potato chews, or non rawhide chews.

Lets all sing together with Sia, "Puppies are forever and not just for Christmas!" Every year after Christmas the shelters get inundated with surrendered dogs and cats of all ages. Dogs that were adopted get returned. Reasons for this? The novelty of having a little ball of fur with a red bow wears off once you realize pets are work, realizing that pets cost money to take care of, the animal doesn't have the personality you wanted, the person you gave the pet to as a gift doesn't want it or you didn't remember how much time it takes to own a pet. If you have taken all of these things into consideration and choose to get a fur baby for Christmas, please think of adopting an animal in need of a good home! Share pictures of your rescue pups!

It is getting chilly outside and just like you put on your warm coat and winter gloves, we need to keep our pets protected too!
Cats and dogs should be kept inside during cold weather. It's a common belief that dogs and cats are more resistant than people to cold weather because of their fur, but it's untrue. Even at 45 degrees your pet can be in discomfort, especially our littles. Read up on what to do to keep your pup warm, what signs to look for if they are too cold and what to do in emergency situations.
And of course ALWAYS make noise on your hood before starting for the critters (especially cats) that crawl in for warmth.
