Today we will be closed in observance of Veterans Day to all those who have fought for our freedom and continue to fight.

Today we recognize and thank Dr.Matt for his dedication to the United States Airforce for four years. During his time he worked as a mechanic on the 335th Fighter Wing, and completed a deployment to Saudi Arabia. Afterwards he was then transferred to Germany and Ecuador for Intellegence Missions. Thank you Dr.Matt for your service to our country, and thank you to those who have fought and continue to fight for the American People. 🇺🇸🦅

Had such a great time celebrating our company Christmas party early at Fantasies in Chocolate. This year’s theme was Nightmare in Wonderland. And of course, I was determined to win the silent auction item that was a handmade Battle Born sign.

We love supporting local artists, and other small business owners, so when I decided that we needed a very unique sympathy card design to go with our Rainbow Bridge 🌈 candles, I knew Louise Noel would be the perfect artist for the job. She specially designed this painting, titled ‘Rainbow Bridge’ for us. The pictures do not do the original painting justice, as she paints these beautiful, vibrant colors on silk. You can see her paintings in person, and even purchase them for yourselves at Artsy Fartsy art gallery in Carson City.

Will be closed Friday October 25th to attend memorial services of one of Dr Matt’s Colorado State University classmates. Dr Casey Gruber was a great person and veterinarian. He will be dearly missed.

We’ve been getting a lot of messages asking how we are doing, since we live in Pleasant Valley. We are all OK, and are on the other side of Pleasant Valley from the Galena Creek bridge, so the fire wasn’t quite on our backs like it was in that area a few blocks away.

However, words cannot express our love, thanks, gratitude, and appreciation to our vet assistant Tannier. When she first found out about the fire, she immediately started trying to get a hold of Dr. Matt, knowing that we were in its path. Unknown to her, they had already cut power, which in-turn made cell service nonexistent, so she could not get a hold of him. She also knew that myself, Dr. Matt’s wife was currently on an airplane flying back from a business trip in Texas. She jumped in her car and drove straight to our house to help with anything that Matt needed help with. She made it through the roadblocks within minutes of them closing off all entrances to our neighborhood and was able to get the kids and take them back to her house so that they were safe, and so that Matt could focus on evacuating all of our animals. When my plane landed at 4:30, my phone was going nuts with messages from friends and family, asking if we were OK. We flew in from the north, so I didn’t even see the smoke prior to landing. Not being able to get a hold of Matt, I immediately called Tannier who said she was already on her way to our house. By sheer coincidence, I just happen to be wearing, my Battle Born mobile veterinary hospital T-shirt, so I was able to get through the roadblock to not only help assist in our evacuation, but to help assist some of our other neighbors evacuate their animals and get them to safety, as well as to get the word out that we were here and available in the area for any animals in need of immediate medical attention. 
We are so unbelievably lucky to have Tannier as such a valued employee!!!
 everything is still touch and go with the fire since it is still 0% contained as far as I know, and the picture is of the current view of it from our house. For those that are still affected by it, we are still here and available for any animal medical needs that may arise with injuries or fire evacuations.  Battle Born Mobile Veterinary Hospital

UPDATE: We have resumed normal operations, but are still on standby and keeping an eye on the fire as it continues to grow with 0% containment. If anyone has animals that are lost, injured during evacuations, or are suffering from burns or smoke inhalation,please comment on this thread, AND call us so that we can be aware and ready to provide emergency medical assistance if needed. 

🚨 Attention to anyone who is a victim of the wildfire and needs veterinary help with animals 🚨
Battle Born Mobile Veterinary Hospital will be heading down to the old fire station at the bottom of Eastlake Boulevard. If your animals need treatment from smoke inhalation, Burns, etc., meet us there. Call Dr. Matt’s wife at 775-843-6155 if you have questions . Cell service is very spotty and at times nonexistent, but we will be at the old fire station by 9:30 or 10 AM, if not earlier to offer assistance. that phone number is not a phone number for Battle Born, so if you get the voicemail, don’t think you called a wrong phone number.

As a gentle reminder, our business phone does not have any texting capabilities. If you text our phone number, we will not receive your text at all, nor will we get any notification that a text was attempted. Please only call or email us with any appointment requests, concerns, or emergency requests. Also, due to Dr. Matt being our only vet, and him generally being in surgery on a daily basis it is incredibly hard for us to accommodate same-day emergencies, and if you do happen to have Dr. Matt’s personal cell phone, please do not text him and expect a response quickly. It would be highly unprofessional of him to be texting someone else while in an appointment with another client, and not be able to focus 100% on his current appointment. Also, due to him being the driver of our mobile unit, he does not have the time or ability to text people back while traveling between appointments. Another sidenote, Dr. Matt hates texting. He doesn’t even pay attention to his wife’s texts, so we strongly advise to never text him if you do have his personal cell phone number. He also never checks his personal voicemails, which is why his voicemail inbox specifically says to not leave business related messages
