Staatsmacht Kennel was founded in 2002 with my foundation female Orla Schiffslache. She produced with differant males out of differant lines dogs that carried the ability to work in every enviorment and every kind of work. Orla was a proven producer and very famous for the quality of dogs she produced. The German Shepherd Magazine featured Orla as one of the best producers.

11 years later we s

till follow her breeding linage in a straight manner. We kept many of her daughters for our breeding program and they have already surpased her in thier breeding ability. Females like Franka or Gracia, and now Ultra and Dora have shown their strong quality in producing the strong dogs that Staatsmacht is famous for. We have never purchased a female from an outside kennel for our breeding program. We only trust in our Orla/Connie/Gimmie line. It is for sure the best feeling for every breeder if dogs out of your breeding program show the quality on the big trials and real world senerios in law enforcement, but you know you have bred the right dogs when breeders all over the world use your males and females for their breeding programs. We are really proud to see that Staatsmacht has become in a short time a very prestigious kennel name around the world. Another sign that you have become very successful is the fact that those around the world may talk about our dogs good or bad, but the fact that they talk so frequently is a sign of strong success.

Was great to meet old friends in Spain!! Many good dogs with Staatsmacht in their pedigree , the winner showed a great protection routine but had some trouble in obedience, the 98 in tracking and bitework closed the deal!!
I think one person is not sleeping well in the next few weeks and has to answer some extrem unpleasant questions!! congratulations to all the competitors and teams!!!

Working with FOCAL POINTS
The Great thing on IGP is that the rules never really changed a lot, on the I-2-3 every time in the first straight we get 2 gun shots!! We create a Focal Point with a consistent reward after the 2nd shot, especially for our friends that do not believe in a negative reinforcement a great tool to keep the dog active!! Important again is the consistent handler behavior and reward!!

I saw many posts and arguments about the positioning of the reward! Many trainers/handlers tell you fantasy stories that when the target toy is not anymore under the armpit the dog would lose the focus. It would be only a luring, would be faking the heel work!!
There are many ways to create the wished picture, I initially prefer the toy in the beginning, after month of training with food, under my armpit!! Why? The reward is in the focus point, drops in the heel position without changing the body language. Most Important is and that is what these people do not tell you, is that you must reinforce every behavior, without reinforcement the behavior will not be consistent and only available in a perfect setting without any distraction and environmental influence!! Here is a little video how 3 different types of dogs show consistent behavior with and without the target toy!! The dog knows that I took the ball away but keeps the position, in perfect controlled behavior!!
