What an amazing adoption update!

Hi! Just wanted to say I adopted my cats from you guys almost three years ago and it was the best decision I ever made! Their names are Hayley and Connor if you might remember them. They’ve been living in NYC with me ever since and have travelled with me a little bit too. They have the best temperament and are a dream at the vets. They can be a little shy at first but turn into the biggest cuddle bugs. Connor is my mischievous one. Hes gotten into a vent once or twice at a house and has figured out his automatic feeder to dispense food whenever he pleases 😂 Hayley is the sweetest and is still super small which makes everyone fall in love with her at first sight. I couldn’t imagine my life without them and I can’t wait for them to grow up with me and maybe my future family. Thank you for rescuing them and giving them a chance so I could meet my best friends! ❤️

In the end of 2022, Hi Tor took in four female one year old German Shepherds from a breeding situation.

Anya was one of the four! Her family recently posted a “gotcha day” post on IG so we asked if we could share her! They sent even more photos.

From Anya’s family:
She is amazing to have in our home, she loves playing with Lando and we are happy to have her, thanks for letting us adopt her!

We love hearing from our adopters and seeing them in their happy homes!

🐾❤️Gabriel and Styles❤️🐾

Hi Hi Tor, Just checking in to send an update on the boys I adopted back in Sept. 2022. Gabriel & Styles are such sweet cats and are very playful and healthy. I'd be curious to know if there are any updates on their female litter mates, Carpe & Diem? Thank you, -Lindsay

Since most of us are stuck inside, why not click the like and share button below to send Jack's story to friends and family who may never have seen him before! One Paw at a Time Rescue

Jack was a Hi Tor dog who was transferred to One Paw at a Time when our contract was cancelled in September.

Jack has been waiting very patiently for his adoption time to come.

Jack is a 2. 5 year old small pit mix. He weighs around 40ish pounds. He is Neutered, up to date on vaccines etc....

Jack is dog selective so a meet n greet would be required. He has been doing great in training, he is super eager to please, and knows a ton of commands. Jack is doing fantastic in foster with a small breed pup and has been doing great meeting new pups on walks. The rescue is willing to do a Foster To Adopt.

Send an email to [email protected] and request an application for Jack

WE LOVE THESE UPDATES!! Please keep sending them!

Hello Hi Tor! I recently just found out about the very sad closing. I am so sorry. I just wanted to reach out about my kitty I adopted back around Thanksgiving 2012. She was only a few months, was the last of her siblings adopted (they were Itsy Bitsy and Spider, she was Bitsy), sick with an infection sneezing goop and blood, BUT extremely loving none the less. She is such as amazing gal at 11 years old and has been through a lot with me. She’s moved homes 3 times, accepted my now husband, accepted a large rescue adult pup (whom she definitely overpowered), and now a medium rescue puppy (whom she’s still not a fan of but it’s getting better!! Haha). Oh yes and now a 1yo human after 3 years of sticking by me during infertility/IVF. She’s so good, she jumped in the playpen unfortunately and my son quick grabbed her tail and she swatted him…..with no claws! He laughed 🤣. Which is NOT what I want nor encourage, but thankful it went this way! She was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. She had a rare reaction to the meds so we are hopefully going forth with Radioiodine treatment. Thank you all for everything you have done at Hi Tor and giving me my sweet Pandora aka “Kitty” haha.

Back in Aug 2023, Bentley a 9 yr old service dog was surrendered to us sadly because his owner could no longer care for him. We sent out a foster plea and Janine Cruz answered our prayers! Janine, as some may remember, was also Nanuck’s hospice foster when he passed away…

Bentley came to us with lots of joint and hip issues. After numerous vet consultations we agreed to start with TPLO repair surgery.

This past Saturday his surgery was a success! Thank you to Dr. Hart and the whole staff at Guardian Veterinary Specialists! Thank you to Janine and her family for caring for Bentley while he recovers!

Please send Bentley healing thoughts and virtual belly rubs as he rehabs over the next 12 weeks!

Who remembers Bean 🫘???

Bean came to us as a “stray” in Feb 2023 weighing only 33lbs. He was one of the worst cases of starvation we had ever seen. It took weeks of monitored re-feeding to be able to get him back to a healthy weight.

Bean was adopted by Tara and her family. She sent us these photos and heartwarming update:

Just wanted to give an update that String Bean, as you called him, is doing great and is referred to as the spineless dog because as soon as he sees someone he just flops to the ground for rubs!!
Thank you again for all you do!!
Tara

What an amazing transformation! Happy Life Bean!

Another sweet update on a former Hi Tor dog! 🐶

From Stanleys Family:

Just wanted you to know that Stanley is doing amazing and we are so lucky to have him. Everyone that meets him grows instantly attached. He loves to run around the yard and on the beach where a ball is never far from him. He still hasn’t gone swimming which is okay with us! Thanks again for posting about him and giving us the opportunity to adopt him.

We received this heart ❤️ warming update from Joey’s new mom Lisa Skokos! Thank you One Paw at a Time Rescue for pulling Joey from us back in September!

Eleven years ago I walked into Hi Tor thinking I wanted to adopt a small dog. As I was walking around the kennels I noticed this beautiful dog with the most soulful eyes. She was quiet and calm, patiently waiting for her forever home and I instantly fell in love. Lila (formerly Cheyenne) was my first pet on my own and we instantly bonded. She was glued to my side from day one and was my constant through so many difficult times in my life. Always there with unconditional love and those eyes….they spoke volumes.

In March of 2023 I had to make the most gut wrenching decision to put my sweet girl to sleep. It was one of the most difficult things I have ever done, 11 years was simply not enough! My heart was shattered I did not know when or if I would ever have another dog. In that moment and for months that followed the heartbreak far outweighed the years of joy she gave me. Until one day I came across a courtesy post, on Facebook, from Hi Tor about Joey.

One look at him and his soulful eyes and it was as though Lila had sent him to me. I sent an application to One Paw at A Time Rescue (who now had Joey) inquiring about him but didn’t get a response. I later learned I had forgotten the word “rescue” from their email address so they never received my email. I thought about him for days but had assumed he got adopted, after all he was so handsome and so well spoken of.

About a week later I went to the post about him to see if there were any updates and learned this sweet boy had been disappointed once again. I knew Joey was meant to be with me and sent another email to the correct address this time. After a lengthy conversation with Stephanie from One Paw, it was about another week before I could meet Joey. Once I did I was instantly in love, his foster mom Karen, said when I came in it would take him a few minutes to warm up, but he was instantly giving me kisses and letting me love on him. I took Joey home with me that day, he was home for Christmas.

I officially adopted Joey on January 6th. Much like my Lila was, Joey is a love bug. He loves everyone he meets. He is amazing with my entire family: adults, teenagers, younger kids and a toddler….even my brothers dog. His energy, love and sweetness has filled the hole that was left in my heart that I didn’t know needed to be filled.

I want to say Thank you Hi Tor, without you I never would have had an amazing 11 years with Lila and without your courtesy post I never would’ve found Joey!

Lisa
