Tried on a few collars that were delivered today. If you know about horse yokes then you are probably wondering why its upside down. For cattlw to wear a horse yoke it needs to be this way to hit correctly on the steer's shoulders. The only con is this is not a great set up for plowing. It is alright for pleasure. Which is what he will be being used for. It looks like one will fit for now and the other will fit when he gets older. That's a plus. Now to buy hames for it :)

Miniature Cattle

Why we started in mini cattle? My parents who came with me from Florida after I graduated from when I joined the Army. My parents had no experience with cattle or any farm animals except what I introduced them to when I was working on a horse show barn. I did four years in veterinary assisting classes where we worked on a farm of Angus cattle. My father had expressed how he wanted to have cattle on our new property while I was in Korea and mom was scared of the thought. I had told them of miniature cattle but all I knew of them was at a fair. I convinced dad not to do anything until I could get home... or so I thought.

I then was stationed in Fort Polk, my last duty station. I was there for about 7 months when I got a phone call from my mother who yelled that it was my fault and my dad was bringing home bottle babies. Long story short the bottle babies made my mom feel a bit more at ease and my dad well he fell more in love.

However, dad fell in love with a bull calf angus. My dad fell gravely ill and me being the more realistic of having an Angus bull calf as my dad and him had a bond. Dad didn't want to sell him for meat. While dad was sick in the VA hospital, I found Gus a home where when the man came to pick him up he got happy and acted like he saw my dad (the man had same stature and beard). I had the man lead him into the trailer and he went easily.

It was sad for my dad not to have Gus when he got home but I just couldn’t see an Angus bull on our 8 acre property with really poor fencing. My plan as mom felt comfortable with cattle,
