While this started as a personal mission out of a love for all animals, I have decided to formalize it into an offical sanctuary and rescue to help more animals. As our goal is to be self-funding, an online store is being built to fund spay/ neuter services, vet care, food, shelter, and other rescue related expenses.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Or in this case, it was the worst of times, it was the best of times. In October 2022, Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) had several dogs test positive for distemper with others showing symptoms. Distemper is highly contagious and has....

Diesyl A258038 is a 1.6 year old neutered male that came into county care as an owner surrender in December of 2022 because they were moving and could longer give him the care he deserves.

In his previous home, he has done well with men, women and children. He is very sweet with staff and volunteers. He loves to play with toys and has done well with other dogs. 😊❤️

🚫 This raffle is now closed 🚫Thank you so much to all who entered! 🙏🏼 Come back Wednesday at 6 when we will announce the winner! 🏆

Hey, Friends! We have reached our goal! 👏🏻 The raffle is still open until the end of today, and any funds beyond the original goal will be used to purchase edible enrichment for the shelter dogs 🐶

💸Who's ready to help a good cause and maybe win some money?!?! 💰

Can you imagine spending 24 hours a day in a small kennel in a loud building full of barking dogs, maybe getting out and interacting with someone once a week? 💔 That’s the reality for most of the County dogs. Our goal is to provide as much enrichment for them as possible to make their days there more bearable.

🆘 How YOU can help 🆘

We are raising funds to purchase Benebones for the dogs of MCACC West. These are very durable flavored chew toys that dogs love! ❤️🐶

We need a minimum of $1500 to purchase one for each dog.

This week's raffle prize is just shy of $400 in assorted scratchers PLUS $100 in cold, hard cash* (*electronic funds transfer via Venmo, PayPal or CashApp 😉). Every $5 donation gets your name entered once into our drawing! More entries = more chances to win!

Help us reach our goal by entering this week's raffle! This raffle closes at midnight on Sunday, and the winner will be announced on Wednesday.

6/12/2023 Lunged and barked at kennel door when handler walked past with dog.
6/4/2023 Canine was laying on bed; approached front of kennel when offered treats; canine was wary of leashing, but continued to eat treats from ground and handler placed leash while canine was eating; exited kennel readily; pulled some going to play yard. Canine was affiliative with handler, but energetic; jumped up for attention; play bowed at handler; rolled over to show belly. Canine continued to jump up periodically, a little grabby with treats from hand. Canine walked back to kennel well; used leash pressure to return to kennel, no issues removing leash by hand.

5/31/2023 Dog was laying on bed when handler approached. Dog had neutral body language at first then, shied back to corner of kennel. Handler gave out hot dogs and dog came forward and started to eat them, body language loosened up. Handler present leash and dog became timid and somewhat stiff. Dog gave warning back at the leash when handler tried to loop over. Handler tried for second time and dog ducked and moved behind handlers legs towards door. Handler was able to leash up at that point and walk to play yard. Dog had a loose body while walking, strong pull. Once in yard dog explored and slowly started to come up to handlers. After a few minutes allowed petting and dog started to play bow and run around yard. Strong pull back to kennel, walked into kennel without issue. Handler was able to remove leash without using 2nd clip leash. Handler put leash back on to test and dog tried to bolt past handler to get out the door. Moderate pull back to kennel, went right in, easy leash removal. Recommend adopter crate train dog to assist with noted destructive behaviors in home. Adopter must be prepared to separate this dog from any other animals in the home (minimum of 3 days) and then conduct slow, repeated, on-leash introductions. May prefer a home without small animals.

Dog pulled hard out of kennel, almost darted out in between my legs, but stopped herself from getting tangled with me. Hard pull out of wing and building, remained tense and anxious on walk from building to yard. Once in yard, dog relaxed a bit (I let go of leash at this time). K9 would whine at coworker that was in the distance with soft body and wagging tail. Hard pull back, greeted coworker and allowed all petting. Kept short lead on return, allowed leash removal. Recommending no small animals due to previous adopters return notes. Adopters should be aware that this K9 should be allowed decompression time before introducing to other pets in the home, along with slow repeated introductions to other pets in the home

3/5/2023 rounds - sitting on kuranda, being quiet

3/1/2023 Out for a walk. Approached from front of kennel. Easy to leash and pulled hard out of wing and building - ignored barking dogs-. (Hard pull for her, but was still easy to control as she is smaller). Once away from premises, K9 was still pulling hard and choking herself, placed modified harness to assist with pulling and choking. Walked behind stadium, was shy and timid when members of the public were close by. One person tried to say hi to her and offered his hand to pet her, but she shy-ed away. Once back in building, removed harness and she continued pulling back to her kennel, went right in, ignoring other barking dogs in wing and allowed for easy leash removal.
2/22/2023 Out for a walk. Dog was sitting on kuranda on approach, perked ears when presented with leash. Remained still for leashing, moderate pull out of wing and to play yard. Dog glanced at other dogs in yards but continued walking. Once entering yard dog solicited attention from handler, attempted to jump on handler's lap. Solicited and accepted pets on head and body but was jumping towards handler while receiving them. Wiggly body during interactions with handler. Moderate pull back to wing. Dog walked right into kennel, no issues removing leash.
2/18/2023 Per Volunteer: easy to leash slight pull down wing in hallway low jump and did spin around. out in play yard sits and takes treats well jumps up a few times explored yard easy return

2/14/2023 Per Volunteer: Calm and easily leashed, but pulled hard during run exit; jumped on handler and nipped playfully; moderate pull during walk; sniffed and explored yard; took pets and would sit for back rubs; followed thrown balls but not interested in retrieving or playing with them; easy return
2/12/2023 Dog came to handler at the gate, wiggly, excited to come out. Easy leash placement, dog exited kennel quickly. Did not react to other dogs, pulled moderately hard on leash. In play yard dog jumped on handler playfully, easily directed away by handler. Demonstrated "sit" for treats, allowed petting and handling. Handler then walked dog around the property, pulled at first then settled after a while. No return issues, allowed leash removal. No dog-to-dog assessment completed.
2/11/2023 Wide eyes, stiff body, tail tucked, focusing on doors while in bubble, allowed all handling and walked to kennel.
1/20/2023 Easy kennel pull; loose leash walker, feeling a little sick, but still wanted to snuggle; takes treats gently; checks in on walk; was hesitant to go back into her kennel, but came right in when I stepped in and sat on her bed and let me unleash her.
1/14/2023 per volunteer AnnaBeth is such a sweetheart! I loved her shy but affectionate energy from the second I met her. Easy to pull from the kennel. She did pull a bit on the leash. Once in the play yard, she went potty and then went to explore. After a couple minutes, she came over to the handler and started giving lots of love and affection. I did not see any dog reactivity from her at all. She was easy to return to the kennel. I absolutely LOVED my time with AnnaBeth!
1/9/2023 Dog was laying on the kurunda bed on approach, timid, head down, startled when handler closed the divider. Ate tossed treats as handler entered slowly. Tail tucked, head low but allowed leash placement, exited kennel easily. Walked easily on leash, did not react to other dogs. In small yard dog explored off leash, relaxed over time, became affiliative. Solicited attention, tried to jump into handler's lap, allowed all petting and handling. No return issues, allowed leash removal. No dog-to-dog assessment completed.
1/5/2023 Stiff and wide eyed on intake. Allowed petting and light restraint for vaccines. Walked to kennel on leash.
