Kevin graduated his 4 week board/train✨

Kevin’s mom was proactive when he was puppy and started him off with another trainer early on which is great, but then he had some unfortunate health complications and turned into a big boy that struggled to settle down in new environments.

He is a higher drive dog and after a year of camp and some sessions sprinkled in, we decided it was time to do more intensive training to unlock all of his untouched potential🤎

Learning commands is a breeze for him, but he lived in a pumped state of mind, so we worked on him settling while doing them. We targeted lots of impulse control in high distraction environments. We also focused on a ton of off-leash training and desensitizing.

I am so proud of how far this boy came🫶🏽

Milo finished up his 3 week board/train with us🎓

He is a super good boy, but in typical Aussie fashion he can get pretty vocal & overexcited.

Things we targeted:
▫️a solid place command, especially counter conditioning it with the front door & visitors
▫️The “leave it” command so that he could easily be called off when he gets a little too excited with the cats
▫️getting him comfortable with the e collar, so his mom can easily follow through with all of his commands🫶🏽
▫️leash skills & a solid “heel”
▫️settling in different scenarios

It was such a pleasure teaching this dude all the skills ✨✨

Bruce (on the left) has been in our board/train program for the last two weeks and is currently competing his third week.

Bruce is a mixture of anxious/very vocal/ reactive and he has a prey drive. Our goals for him are to be able to walk and go out in public without being extremely reactive, for him to not run out the door + have better recall, and for him to overall be more stable/less anxious.

To make physically fulfilling him easier for his family we’ve:
▫️taught him how to run on the treadmill
▫️mastered his leash skills, so walking him is enjoyable
▫️taught him how to run by the bike

To make mentally fulfilling him easier we’ve:
▫️taught him to decompress on place + duration climbed him to over an hour
▫️got him comfortable with going into stores/new environments
▫️have gotten him comfortable working for his food and doing puzzles

He’s a very good boy and has really been the perfect example of why you need to balance out physically and mentally fulfilling a dog. I am so proud of this dudes progress 🤍

How many can you count in the picture?🤪

We’ve been making tons of changes lately & I couldn’t be more proud of the progress every single dog is making in each program.

Are there any services you would like us to offer that you feel you + your dog would benefit from? Or anything I could do that would add value for you and your pup throughout the week?

Also, we have one spot left for December, so if you are trying to do a board/train around the holidays reach out asap😘🤍

Meet Cinnamon, your potential new best friend. This boy balances has a fun loving personality and he would love to be your sidekick for every single activity. Bike rides? He’s in. Walks? He’s in. Going to brunch? Count Cinna in.

It goes without saying that he has energy, so he would do best in an active home. That said, he is not high drive and once he’s gotten his energy out he is more than down to cuddle up by your side🤎

The only reason I have him as a foster right now is because he was barking while living in an apartment. He was experiencing kennel anxiety and separation anxiety and so he ended up here. He has had absolutely zero issues kenneling since I’ve had him. I have been periodically putting him in the kennel during the day to test it & he sleeps in the kennel at night and he has not barked once, so I don’t foresee it being an issue going forward, as long as he is properly exercised and loved on💁🏼‍♀️

He is three years old, about 55 pounds and is super social. He would love to have a home with kids or other dogs. He does well with cats, but sometimes tries to play. He learns quickly though & hasn’t tested my cat since she scratched him for being nosey.🙈 Please message me if interested, I would absolutely love for him to go to one of my clients that have their dog in the program, but my ultimate priority is finding him the perfect home.

At least once a day one of my clients tells me, “well my dog sleeps in my bed or jumps on the couch, but I know that’s probably not a good thing”. The answer is, it depends on your dog & your circumstances.

If you are dealing with aggression in the home, or seeing lots of possessive behavior with your dog then it’s absolutely not a good thing.

That said, for other dogs it isn’t a negative thing at all, when that privilege is incorporated into your home properly.

If you’ve worked with us & have a reactive dog you’ve probably heard me reference Goldilocks on numerous occasions.

With reactive dogs our goal in simple terms is to find Goldilocks each time we are working with our dogs.

“Finding Goldilocks” means to find a distance that is just right. You want to be close enough to the stimulus so that you can work through it, but not so close that you lose complete control of your dog.✨

Lucy is also graduating today, which is so exciting. She has completed a three week board/train and we couldn’t be more proud of her.

She has done great when it comes to learning to manage her excitement and learning manners when it comes to properly socializing🎉 the duration & reliability that we’ve been able to add to her commands are going to make her SO much more manageable & enjoyable in everyday life!👏🏼

Louie’s day at camp yesterday!✨

This little man loves to run, so we try our best to let him get all of his energy out in between training sessions so his mom gets a somewhat tired Louie when she picks him up😊

Day Camp days are Monday & Wednesday, if you’d like your dog to join camp you can text 480-628-4079 to get started ✨

The sassy girls of our personal pack!✨

Jazzy (on the right) was one of my two first dogs I got as a teenager! She is an amazing dog, but struggled a ton with anxiety, insecurity and pent up energy! This eventually manifested into her starting lots of dog fights!😢

As stressful as it was at the time, it got me into dog training, so I’m grateful for that!🤍

In order to address this issue we had to work a ton on creating neutrality, she had to learn that even if she doesn’t love a dog, she doesn’t have to act on that feeling.

Things that helped were:
▫️confidence building
▫️a solid place command to establish a calm state of mind
▫️lots of time, consistency and structured exposure to other dogs & environments
▫️giving her clear & calm direction
▫️respecting her boundaries & letting her know that she can trust us!😊

In order to solve a behavior you have to understand what’s causing it!👌🏽

Adding some small things into your walk will take your walk from just physically fulfilling, to physically & mentally fulfilling for your dog✨

I like to think of the daily walk with my dogs as what sets the tone for how the rest of their day is going to be, so I am constantly working towards keeping their walk fun, but rewarding a calm + cooperative mindset!🤎
