Family farm specializing in Georgian Grande (Saddlebred-Percheron cross) horses and raising a variety of other crossbred and purebred horses and ponies.

Welcome to Lodi, Virginia! At Whittling Ridge Farms, we pride ourselves on having a horse for everyone. Our focus is providing good, honest horses. We live on a working farm, where in addition to horses, we raise cattle and sheep. We have various sizes of equines, from our Percheron draft mares on down to a miniature horse every now and again. We specialize in Georgian Grandes (Saddlebred-Perchero

n crosses) and have been raising them since the late 1980s. In addition to our Georgian Grandes, we have a variety of other crosses including Friesian-Percheron, Morgan-Percheron, Belgian-Thoroughbred, and Welsh-crosses, in addition to many others. Our horses are used to being ridden both alone and in groups, often with free-roaming horses in the fields with them, as well. They have many trail miles and are used for anything that they’re needed for on the farm. When riding on our farm, we never know what we might encounter when we ride out into the back fields. It is not uncommon for our horses to flush wild turkeys and deer from the woods or to round up our cattle and sheep to move into other pastures.

Weanling Stud C**t. Georgian Grande Cross. 1/2 Percheron 1/4 Saddlebred 1/4 Morgan. Sired by Whitt's Whippoorwill, who has produced multiple successful horses in many disciplines, such as Dressage, Foxhunting, Eventing and Trail Riding. Independence is by the well-proven stallion, Farnley Corker; the dam is a good-looking Quarter mare. Virginia born and raised, Jazzie was schooled with an Amish family in Ohio. She was broke to ride, drive, trail ride, and is traffic safe.
Jazzie is a good thinker, honest and forward. She has never hesitated to engage when asked. Children are able to ride her without constant adult supervision. Jazzie is well-started and can go any direction you want: the show ring, eventing, trail riding... Her siblings have gone down many avenues, with success. Mable- Percheron/Morgan cross Mare. 3-in-1 package deal. 8yo. 15.1Hands

Mable is a well broke to drive and had been started under saddle. She spent her first 6 years on an Amish farm where she was broke to most farm equipment.
We used her for the past 2 years as a broodmare at Whittling Ridge Farms breeding program to Whitt's Whipperwill a Georgian Grande Stallion. Mable is bred back to Whitt's Whipperwill to foal in 2025. He is an up and coming sire. His colts are talented and very trainable. They are competing in dressage, eventing, Fox Hunting and are great all around horses.
This foal is Half Percheron, one quarter Morgan, one quarter saddlebred. He should finish out over 16HH. He is currently bay but there are high chances that he will be grey.
The mare will be sold as a 3-in-1 package. The mare, Foal and expected foal for 2025.

Sage is already a beautiful filly with good conformation. She is sweet and easy to work with;
she ties, leads and crosses water with ease. Her sire is Whitt’s Whippoorwill, a dapple gray
Georgian Grande, the pride of Whittling Ridge Farms. His offspring are proving to be very
trainable, forward thinking with good attitudes. They are making a name for themselves in
dressage, eventing, and fox hunting. The dam, Mable, is a Percheron/Morgan cross. She is
quiet-natured; a good, honest mare. So, Sage is ½ Percheron, ¼ Saddle Bred and ¼ Morgan.
She should make a 16 hand mare.
If you are looking for a project with big potential, here she is! She will go any direction you
want to go – even if it’s simply trail riding on a mare that will become your best friend!

The mother is a registered English Shepherd from the Guy Wilson bloodline. The Old Time Scotch collies go back to 4J acres. Sojourner, the Richard Duffies dog, old Shepherd bloodlines.
Both parents are current working dogs on a cattle/sheep/goat/horse farm. They will work or content to be a pet.

Looking for a babysitter? Janie is a willing, kind and honest pony that is handled daily by small children with no adult help! She is a great starter pony, well broke under saddle and in the cart. Janie has been on many trail rides, so she gets along well with others. She is young but has the mind of a more mature, seasoned pony. She will walk along patiently with several little ones aboard, or will gladly step up as your child’s horsemanship skills improve. There’s nothing plain about this Jane! She passes our test as a good, sweet pony – don’t pass her up!

Talk about an eye-catching, fun, and athletic pony, here he is. Captain is a pony who is well broke to ride and drive. Amish bred and raised, here is a pony that can teach a beginner to ride then be willing to step up as the kid’s skills advance. He is a pony that accommodates his rider’s skills and is willing to move on out with little encouragement. Captain has such a good mouth, it should be qualified as power steering. He has a very sensitive mouth and doesn’t need a heavy hand to steer, but is also very forgiving to beginner riders. He would make a fun show pony and is athletic enough to do whatever a kid wants: run the barrels, jump, ride trails, or just doll around in the backyard. Most beginner ponies are kick-along, but Captain has all the “go” you want with all the “whoa” you need.
