Bay Veterinary Clinic We love what we do! Caring, compassionate, and honest veterinary care. She is committed to providing exceptional care to her patients for years to come.

After ten years of successful practice in Colorado, Dr. Lisa Gartland returned to her hometown of Escanaba with eagerness and enthusiasm. The warm and tight-knit community fills her heart with joy, reigniting her passion for helping animals. The local support shown to the shelter and all of the area veterinarians is truly fulfilling. Dr. Lisa is currently a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary

Medical Association), MVMA (Michigan Veterinary Medical Association), AAFP (American Association of Feline Practitioners) and is USDA accredited. In her free time Dr. Lisa enjoys being outside and is excited to enjoy the spectacular UP wilderness. She currently resides in Flat Rock with her husband Nick and their three black and white cats, Oscar, Felix, and Stewey. You can often find her in the woods on their property, on Lake Michigan sailing/boating, or birding. She also has three outdoor mousers and is currently raising chickens with the hope of starting a small hobby farm someday.

We know how frustrating it can be trying to find a veterinarian for your pet. At our clinic we only have one veterinarian available and can see only so many patients in a day. We strive to take the best care of our patients and give them our full attention.

At this time we have had to make the difficult decision to stop taking on new clients. This policy will stay in place minimally through the
summer months and we will re-evaluate again in the fall. Please visit our website for updates. If you have any questions about this new policy or are unsure if you are an established client, please call or text the clinic at 906-786-1878.

We love our patients like they are our own pets and aim to keep them happy and healthy.

If your pet is in need of emergency care please contact Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital in Appleton, WI: They are equipped to handle emergency cases with the expertise and resources needed for urgent care. However, it's important to be aware that due to regional shortages of emergency care providers, all hospitals may at times face high volumes of cases, leading to them being potentially overwhelmed. We recommend contacting them directly to inquire about both assistance and their current capacity to accept new emergencies.

Independence Day is the busiest day of the year in shelters due to many frightened pets getting lost, injured, or killed.

Dogs and cats react to fireworks as individuals. Some aren’t upset by the explosions, and others get hurt by panicking and jumping through closed windows or bolting through doors to get away from the terrifying noise and lights.

Signs of anxiety can include pacing, trembling, panting, drooling, attention-seeking (vocalizing, pawing, nuzzling, and climbing on people), hiding, and bolting. Escape attempts tend to involve hiding behind furniture, and staying in a basement or bathroom. Because the source of the noise is confusing, inside dogs may want to escape to the outside, and outside dogs may be frantic to get inside.

Make sure all your pets are wearing an ID tag or a collar that contains your phone number. Tags and collars can be lost, so a microchip is even more useful in helping you find your lost pet.

Please keep your pet in mind this holiday season and if you have concerns, in need of medications to help with anxiety, or have other questions, do not hesitate to contact us today! Call or Text 906-786-1878
