Next week Thursday is July 4th. Some ideas for helping your pet stay safe and calm with all the festivities are listed below.
1. Kennel train your pet and place the kennel in a safe room with the door closed. Many times this is enough for pets to feel comfortable.
2. Synthetic pheromone sprays (Feliway for cats or Adaptil for dogs) can give them a sense of well-being. These can be found on our online store.
3. Composure is an herbal chew given to help your pet relax. We have these available for pick up and a prescription is not needed. This does take time for the relaxant properties to build up in your pet's system, so starting them now will greatly improve your pet's comfort level.
4. Some pet's respond well to the feeling of a "hug", Thundershirts or Anxiety Wraps can be very soothing to certain pet's. These can be found on our online store.

Are you considering having your pet microchipped but you have some concerns? Our Home Again Microchips are placed under the skin between your pet's shoulder blades. The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and can be scanned with a microchip scanner, which most veterinary clinics and animal shelters have. Most people prefer having their pet's microchip placed while they are under anesthesia for surgery or dental procedure. Having trouble getting an appointment with your veterinarian and you're not sure why? We understand how frustrating it can be trying to find a veterinarian for your pet. With more people adopting pets (which is great for these animals) comes more people needing a veterinarian to help keep their pet healthy.

At our clinic we only have one veterinarian available and can see only so many patients in a day. We strive to take the best care of our patients and give them our full attention. We are still able to take in new patients just on a limited basis.

What can you do as a pet owner? Be proactive, call to set up an appointment for your pet's yearly exam and vaccinations (and any bloodwork they may need) as soon as you receive your reminder card (or if you know the due dates are getting close, call ahead of time).
If your pet is sick and needs help, call ASAP, (906)786-1878. Our receptionists can help guide you on the most appropriate action depending on what is going on with your pet. Whether that be something you can give/do at home, an appointment with our veterinarian, or recommendation to bring your pet to an emergency clinic (Blue Pearl Animal Hospital in Green Bay, WI).

We love our patients like they are our own pets and aim to keep them happy and healthy.
