I am a born perfectionist, but I have learned to really let things slide with these babies. You will rarely see me get after one for making a mistake during an exhibition or practice run. Learning to control your emotions and more or so P R I D E of getting embarrassed is an ART ๐ซถ๐ฝ๐ซถ๐ฝ
Train for correctness not perfectionโ
Too many times we want perfection and that can strip away confidence on our c**ts. If they are trying, reward them.
If they are improving, reward them.
If they make a small mistake in an exhibition just roll on.
If it was a really big mistake you can correct them.
However, if every time they make a small mistake and you stop them in an exhibition and continually correct them, they may stop trying for you.
Building confidence is part of the training process when building a winner in the barrel race.

What constitutes a circle? Itโs probably the most mis understood, over done and poorly executed exercise in the mainstream horse world
A poorly done circle is a wet noodle flopping around, a disconnected body with a nose pointed onto a figure, while the hind legs flail around and the rib cage collapses.
A poorly done circle is a plywood board that someone is attempting to pound softness into, by pulling pieces and parts around
A well done circle is a masterpiece, a thing of beauty
A well connected body, straight on a curve
But the horse has to know how to turn with the shoulders, and to keep the hind legs behind them
A horse has to learn how to keep their neck center
A horse has to know how to expand the rib cage to the outside
A horse has to know how to stretch the outside of the body
Thatโs no small feat, and itโs quite the athletic endeavor, not to be taken lightly, and nothing to flop around on mindlessly
A circle deserves our respect, awareness, and time put in to develop it well
โChallenge the labelsโ
Are you comparing supplements apples to apples or apples to oranges?
I created my own supplement line after being frustrated once I started delving into labels on supplements I โthoughtโ I liked.
โSupplements for horses are, in fact, kind of sort of supposed to be regulated. But, frankly, since the horse supplements arenโt meant for humans (most people arenโt in favor of unsafe substances going into people), and since horses arenโt food animals (most people arenโt in favor of unsafe substances going into people after having been first going into the animal), the safety and effectiveness concerns for the things that people give to horses are a bit lower down the ladder โ like all the way down at the bottom. So, as it turns out, when it comes to horse supplements being regulated, theyโre kind of sort of not, even if they are kind of sort of supposed to be.โ (David Ramey DVM)
When you do your own research, you would be amazed at whatโs actually in these supplements. Here are a few things I have learned:
1. If it is not an actual listed ingredient, it is NOT added. Which means they are listing it because itโs actually an ingredient of an ingredient. Often times not even digestible to your horse in any sort of timely fashion to be useful to your horse.
2. Watch the conversions! Is it MG, G, OZ, CC?

3. If something is generally considered โsafe...โ there is no regulation. In the government, you have the FDA and CVM (Center for Veterinary Medicine), and in the private sector the AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officers) or NASC (National Animal Supplement Council), but neither of those have any real regulatory authority and approval can be โpurchased.โ Neither particularly cares unless people are eating it or youโre making some sort of medical claim.
Red Hot Equine Aminos was created to take out any junk- all added colors, fillers, etc. Itโs made in an FDA Approved facility. I wanted something that could help the body function at optimum levels, naturally. Just as it was created to do. I wanted an ingredients list anyone could understand, because I want to KNOW what Iโm putting into my horses body. Do you?
Challenge the labels!!! Do your research. You are your horses stewards!
