We are looking for an energetic, hard-working individual who is organized, detail-oriented, and has AT LEAST 3 YEARS experience working as a veterinary technician (CVT not required but encouraged). Responsibilities will be mixed, from technical to organizational; including (but not limited to) the following:
Technical duties - performing blood draws in cats and dogs (in particular drawing from the medial saphenous vein in cats while they are restrained in lateral recumbency), safely restraining anxious/aggressive animals for medical procedures, monitoring EKG and recording vital signs for patients under injectable anesthesia, administering SQ, IM, and IV injections, correctly placing EKG leads and obtaining BP readings, filling prescriptions during appointments, going over medication instructions with clients, basic lab work, such as spinning down blood in a centrifuge at the end of the day and packaging all biological samples for pickup (we send everything out through Idexx at the end of the day), making phone calls about normal blood work and other routine test results, etc.
Assistant duties - going over invoices with clients, accepting payment at the end of appointments, showing clients our online store, obtaining signatures from clients (I.e. consent for sedation, euthanasia, or other procedure), cleaning and restocking the supply bags every morning (they can get pretty messy after a long day!), making sure all equipment is properly charged overnight, making sure the portable pharmacy is fully stocked, keeping track of which supplies/medications need to be ordered, loading all equipment into/out of the car in the morning/evening, keeping “the office“ workspace clean, neat and organized (regularly sweeping the floor, tidying up, taking out the trash), cleaning ears, trimming nails; etc.
Candidate must be able to go up and down stairs comfortably, and to carry a large nursing bag in and out of appointments. Being good with technology is a bonus. Neat handwriting is a bonus. Having a CVT license is a bonus.
*Must have a valid PA Drivers License.*
*Must have a minimum of 3 years veterinary technician experience.*
The next steps of the hiring process include a phone interview and then working interview. Contact us with any questions! We look forward to receiving your application.
