Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue - DITR The mission of Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue is to find healthy, loving, lifelong homes for dogs already born into this world.

www.facebook.com/diamondsintheruffNC Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue is a group of volunteer dog lovers that rescue, provide sanctuary and ultimately re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. We are located in Goldsboro, North Carolina. 501c3 since April of 2007. We rescue dogs from our local animal shelter or off the streets and give them a chance to find a forever, loving home. We believe

in taking care of the existing dogs and puppies instead of supporting breeding that most often results in suffering and homeless animals.

Adoption Update!

Little Sassy, now Abbie, came from a horrible situation and was very skittish. We had no open foster for her. A couple who adopted from us before offered to foster her.
Well, that didn't last long!
They decided she wasn't going anywhere before they ever got out of Berkeley Vet's parking lot.
She fit in perfectly with Lilly (who they also adopted from us), and Hannah.
Abbie is thriving in her new home! It's amazing what love and TLC can do. She particularly loves Hannah and cuddles with her every day.
Thank you, Todd and Yon, for choosing to adopt! DITR

Foxy Lady wants to wish you all a Joyous Christmas Eve! 🎄

She is 4 years old, weighs 20 lbs and is completely house-trained. Foxy needs a patient home who will give her time to trust. She is good with other dogs but likes to chase cats. She requires a fenced yard preferably with lots of squirrels! Once Foxy loves you, she REALLY loves you! And will want to sleep in bed with you. She really is a sweetheart and just wants someone to love.
Foxy was found abandoned on a country road and it took months to catch her. Once she felt safe in her foster home, she was fine.
Timid dogs, like Foxy, sometimes never get adopted. It's always better for them to have their own forever family who will love them through all their little quirks. But if that doesn't happen, they become a sanctuary dog and we give them the best life we can. Rescuers spread themselves very thin trying to give their rescued dogs all they need. But we do our very best.
You can apply for Foxy through our website.

We are very thankful for all your help! We could not do this without you. If you can't adopt, you can always help by donating for their care on our website or we have a donate button at the top of this FB page. If you prefer to write a check, you can send it by mail.

Adoption Update!

Remember Evie? Our felony abuse case?
She is now living her best life in Wilmington! Evie loves going out on the boat and has become quite the water dog. She gets to go everywhere with her family and especially loves going out to dinner where she can order off the menu. Her human brother and sister adore her. Even the cat loves her. But who could not love this precious girl!
Evie almost died because of the abuse of her former owner. After she came to us and regained her health, she became a Certified Therapy Dog. Her foster Mom took her to hospitals where she entertained patients with her tricks and affection.
It does our hearts good to see our dogs finally get the home they deserve.
Thank you, Simons-Rudolph Family, for sharing your life with Evie! DITR

Meet Charlie!
Charlie's Mom passed away and he is in need of a new home. He is 8 years old and has had excellent care all his life. He is very friendly once he gets to know you and loves his toys. Charlie needs to be an indoor cat only and would be fine as an only cat. He is completely vetted. If you are interested in this sweet guy, please call 919-738-4779.

Adoption Update!

Neytiri came from a hoarding situation and had puppy strangles when we rescued her. Once she was ready, a great couple from Wilmington adopted her. They also had Cheech, a little, adorable special needs girl. Cheech was queen of the house but accepted Tiri as part of the pack.
Then came Eden, who came to us as a stray. Shortly after, she was adopted and named Sully.
Now this little pack of three are loving their life!
Mom says, "We weren't expecting Chi Chi to come around as well as she has with them. Tiri and Cheech are the sweetest snuggle buddies. She lets Sully clean her face and ears each morning when they wake and again before bed. These three girls are as thick as thieves (little sock thieves)!! And we are so grateful to see their personalities flourish.
They are hilarious! Sully and Tiri are the BEST of friends and Cheech tolerates them both so well. Tiri runs interception on Sully trying to pounce Cheech. It's a trip!
Tiri's tail never stops wagging. It makes my heart beam!
They are the absolute best little pack of babies ever! They make us smile so much every day! Thanks for that!"
Thank you, Laura and Karen, for choosing to adopt! DITR

So true!

So true!

To all the dogs we’ve had in our lives, we say we loved them, but the truth is, they loved us in ways we’ll never be able to repay. They gave us more than we could ever ask for—comfort when we didn’t even know we needed it, loyalty when we felt lost, and a kind of companionship that went deeper than words.

We say we loved them, but they were the ones who showed us what love really looks like. It was in their eyes every time we walked through the door, in the way they stayed close during the hardest days, in the moments when they just knew we needed them. They saw us at our worst and still looked at us like we were the best thing in their world.

To all the dogs we’ve had, we want them to know how much they shaped us, how they were more than just pets—they were family, they were soulmates in their own way. We loved them, but they loved us better, with a kind of pure, unwavering love that we’ll carry with us for the rest of our lives.

Gracie's first surgery went well!
Thank you all for helping us help her!
She will have her second surgery after she heals from this one. That's a lot of stitches for this little 10 lb girl but she's in great hands. Foster Mom Lisa will probably have a hard time keeping Gracie from wanting to chase her favorite little tennis balls all over the house. 😆

HELP! Our little Gracie needs surgery.

Gracie came to DITR from a hoarding situation where she had minimal care and way too many puppies. Now she has mammary gland tumors that need to be removed. Dr Evans, Berkeley Veterinary Clinic, said she will probably need two separate surgeries because the tumors are on both sides.

We are low on funds right now and could really use some help so that we can help Gracie. She is a sweetheart and deserves to have a great life!

With the help of our volunteers and supporters we will continue to make a difference in the lives of dogs throughout our community.

Please DONATE if you can.
