We all sadly continue to see dogs being relinquished to rescues & shelters for "nipping" or "biting" a child.

More often than not, these incidents could have been avoided by educating children to never disturb dogs that are sleeping. Common scenarios: Child went to cozy up to the dog or a child crawled into the dog crate while the dog was asleep, these are recipes for disaster.

Dogs will become startled if awoken and nip children as a result. Explain to children that dogs should have plenty of space while taking naps, and that they should never wake up a sleeping dog.

We love our kids and our dogs, it is possible to have both with proper education, introductions, boundaries and supervision.
