In the reality of farming, not every animal "makes the cut". 2 not very nice does are being turned into fresh dog food today.

This is the last week of bird season for our dogs and they'll be overjoyed to have a hot meal when they come back in from hunting!

Nighttime baby check revealed 7 almost frozen kits 😭 brought all babies in, placed them on a heating pad and Wade helped me warm them up. We lost 3 of the 7, but this morning the remaining kits are still alive. Peanut is not thrilled she's stuck in a small cage under strict supervision but I need her to feed these babies this morning.

It never fails, change in air pressure from an upcoming storm and someone is going to give birth. and gave us 7 kits today!

Fingers crossed that and will give us a healthy litter this week too!!

Out of the 7 dozen ears of corn I bought yesterday, only 1 ear was a complete "loss" (loss for human consumption, I don't like to eat worms 🤣) but the chickens are more than happy to have the imperfect parts!

Happy animals produce better- better meat, more eggs, better offspring. It is very important to us to keep our animals happy & healthy. Once the female kits are tattooed they will be able to go together in a larger pen. All 3 mama's are happy to have their pens back to themselves!
