Zoro and Phoebe with their babies
These guys are such amazing parents. Zoro checked on Phoebe the entire time she sat on their eggs. When she briefly got up to eat and drink, he stayed by her side as if he was her bodyguard. I think they are absolutely adorable raising their chicks together ❤

Easter Chicks
Easter is a time to celebrate that our savior has risen. We have the opportunity to be born again through Christ who surrendered his life for our eternity's sake. ❤ We had an Easter surprise after church, when we returned home yesterday. We have a hen who became broody weeks ago. When we arrived home and went to check on her, we discovered an egg in her clutch hatching and unfortunately with this wet weather ants had discovered it before us. The hen had fled the nest due to the ants coming in. We ran the egg inside and the rest of the clutch. We helped the distressed chick by carefully removing the rest of the shell to get rid of the ants. We put it and the rest of the eggs in our cabinet incubator. As I thought about this situation, it in ways helps portray the significance of Easter. We are created and brought into this world with such love, intention, and care. Like the hen who sat on her eggs day and night. She put her own wants and needs aside just to ensure her chicks successfully hatched. As soon as the hatch began, the ants fled in. As we face the adversary when we are brought into this world. The enemy is ready to attack and prevent us from thriving. Then as the need was seen and we rushed in to rescue, and give a chance to something that might have been lost to the natural environment of this world. As we carefully removed the shell piece by piece to get the ants off of the chick. As God sent his son to give us a second chance so that we aren't a lost cause in this world. As the ants reminded me of the enemy that tries to attack us and the shell is like our sin which allows the enemy to access us discreetly and confidently. Jesus' blood removed the shell of our sins so that we can face and fight the enemy, to remove it from our life much like we removed the ants. So that we can have a new life in Him. As the chick and it's hatch mates continue to hatch and thrive in the warm safety of the new environment, the incubator. Much like our new life in Christ
