The Grand County Animal Shelter wants to remind everybody to make sure you check to see if your dog or cat or both are current on their rabies vaccination. If by chance they are not, please make sure you get it done as soon as possible. Time goes by fast and you may forget they are due for their vaccinations or you may have not received your notice from your vet that they are due. Please be a responsible pet owner and make sure you check with your vet to see if they are current on all their shots (especially rabies). As well as your dog(s) need to have a current 2024 county tag. Thanks so much :))

Friendly reminder: The animal shelter has received so many calls this week in regard to found dogs. Most of these dogs had collars on but no tags. It's really hard to get these dogs home before they have to come to the shelter since they had no identification. The county ordinances are that every dog needs to be wearing a current rabies tag and a current county tag(sold at all vets, the animal shelter and town halls). And as always, a name tag with a phone number helps immensely (the shelter has an engraving machine). Please keep an eye on your pet so you know they are safe.

The Bark Park is officially open. Thanks to the wonderful volunteers who came out today and helped clean the park and fixed the fencing. We appreciate you. And as always, please obey the rules, clean up after your dog, always be present with your dog and remember the park is at your own risk.
Also as a friendly reminder, dogs need to be leashed on the trail system (signs are posted) and leashed until they enter the Bark Park fenced area.

Hi there!! We will be at the Bark Park at 11:00 this Sunday (April 28) to have a clean up day and fix the fencing. We are looking for people who would like to come and help us. We would greatly appreciate it. Please PM us if you would be interested in helping us or have any questions. Sorry but no dogs at the park while we are cleaning. We don't believe it will take too long. Thank you.

Here we are again, seems like every year, where people have broken into the Bark Park. The combo lock was laying on the bench (nice of them to leave it for us) and the door with the padlock was forcefully pushed open. Unfortunately we did not think we needed to be using our cameras when we were closed. We were wrong:((. We are so happy that people love the park so much, but geez, be patient and we will open it when we know it's safe and clean for all the dogs and owners to enjoy.
Our plan is to open it on April 29th if we can get everything fixed and cleaned by then. We will let everyone know. Until then, please respect the locks and other people's property. Thanks.
