These two ball pythons were sadly left behind in a home this winter. They are both in awful condition with respiratory infections, body wounds, and they are extremely cold, weak, and underweight. They have been quarantined and put under overhead heat since they arrived but if we’re honest, we’re not sure that either of them will make it. They’re warming up temperature wise but just not coming around like we wish to see. We’re going to do what we can to give them the best chance at recovery and we hope to see some improvements when we reevaluate tomorrow. 🐍

This handsome fellow arrived back in December, but he needed some time to settle in. When he first arrived, we set up his enclosure, took him out of his travel container and put him in the enclosure. He was instantly panicked and he was bolting all over the enclosure as fast as lightning. If we didn’t do something, we were sure his beautiful tail would soon be detached from his body from fear. So we covered him with a light blanket and haven’t touched him since other than to feed him and mist him. He’s doing much better and to our surprise, his tailed is still attached. Woohoo!! His name is Kai and he will soon be looking for a home. We’re working on handling at his pace, and I was finally able to snap some crappy photos today which means he gets to meet you all! 🫶🏼

Our first intake of 2025 happens to be this adorable house gecko that was likely a stowaway from down south. These guys live in the warmer states and often find themselves here by traveling in cars, luggage, or house plants. He’s super quick, super adorable, and he needs a name! Please leave your best name suggestions in the comments and we will pick one from your suggestions tomorrow! 🦎

It is the last day of the year which means it’s time to tally our total number of reptiles received in the last 365 days. Each year we have somehow managed to increase our number of intakes since we officially started our rescue in 2021.
Last year, we were able to take in 243 reptiles in need of medical care or a new place to stay which is completely mind blowing! 🩷
This year, we have had a whopping 253 animals come through our doors and we want to say THANK YOU for your support along the way. Many reptiles are currently here receiving treatment, lots are in their new homes, and some are waiting with fosters for their perfect home to find them. Your likes, shares, comments, and messages, donations, and support mean so much to us as we continue to love the unloved.
Have a very happy and safe New Year’s Eve everyone! 🐢🦎🐍

10 day update on Blue. 🩵
It’s safe to say she’s come a long way as far as her weight is concerned. She has also shown us that she houses quite an attitude and personality in that little body! She will be looking for a permanent home in the near future! 😊

Wednesday evening we were contacted by some folks who had purchased a home, went in to clean it out, and found a severely neglected alligator along with a deceased snapping turtle. We arrived later that evening and found a three foot alligator in a tiny tank full of ice cold algae filled water. The house had been abandoned for at least a month, possibly longer and the alligator was quite literally frozen. He was extremely lethargic and did not put up the slightest fight when we pulled him out of his tank but thankfully, since then he has warmed up and gotten some spice back to him. He will be here safe and warm with snacks for a few days until he heads over to the east side of the state to some knowledgeable keepers of his species for rehabilitation. Huge thank you to Kate and her crew for taking on this beautiful creature’s rehabilitation and another huge thank you to Colleen for offering to get him there! 🩷🐊

Mr. Alfredo had a procedure yesterday to express some infected glands by his vent. He’s been on antibiotics which helped the redness but they weren’t any match for the build up of dead tissue trapped inside. He was sedated and tons of gunk was able to be removed - be thankful you can’t smell the third picture through the screen! He was VERY sleepy all evening afterwards but today I went to give him a little pet and he wanted to eat my finger for dinner. He had a mouse instead. 😉

Miss Blue.
24 hours in between these photos! The difference in the tummy is wild! It’s amazing what some UVB, heat, mice, bugs, electrolytes, LOTS of water, and antibiotics will do! 🩵
