Walk & Train Feature: Ares
Ares is an adult border collie who gets overstimulated by dogs and critters in the environment. We are working on building engagement on our walks by learning fun patterns with Ares.
What is the pattern we are looking on for engagement and leash skills?
🐾 First, we taught Ares that "yes" or click= treat
🐾 Then, we taught Ares any time he checks in that equals we move forward and get a treat drop.
🐾 We also taught Ares that when he sees a dog or critter that he will hear "yes" or click and that means we will move away from the trigger and get his treat!
This helps Ares to learn that checking in PAYS well and is much easier to keep the leash loose versus pulling ahead!

Walk & Train Feature: Lunamaria
Luna has big feelings about various stimuli in the city (squirrels, dogs, bikes, motorcycles, and sometimes men). This can make walks tricky as Luna’s way of communicating is by barking and lunging.
Luna is here to demonstrate one of our favorite techniques: “Go Sniff”.
This is where we toss a handful of treats on the ground while saying “go sniff”. We teach this to pups so they learn to sniff the ground when a trigger presents to prevent a reaction and to sniff instead.
