New Basic Obedience and Puppy Obedience classes are available to sign up for summer sessions!!! There are limited spots available for all classes, and these will be held outdoors. I do have someone spraying for mosquitoes and wood ticks, but still prepare yourself and your dog. These classes are held in a sandy grass area, that we do keep mowed.

COMING IN JUNE!! Canine First Aid and CPR course, a 1 day event being hosted by Happy Tails Dog Training! What an opportunity to learn how to help your dog, keep them safe, until you can get to the vet! This course is not a replacement for vet care, but to give you the skills to help your dog during a time of injury. *Stay tuned for more information*

Always learn in the class setting and practice at home. I try my best to encourage those in my group classes to take a step back when their dog isn't doing what other dogs look like they are doing at that moment. Every dog is different, they all have different learning abilities, and can be over stimulated in groups. What works best in class is patience, giving the dog space to slowly work through what it is feeling, and practicing at home. This is why I ask the question at the beginning of class "how has this past week at home been?" What is important is the changes at home, as they will slowly incorporate to positive changes and comfort in social settings like group class. I do everything in my power to keep all dogs and handlers safe during class, so the dogs can see a safe environment among other dogs and people, where they normally might not feel safe.

Some days you get caught training in the pouring down rain! We didn't train for long, but we had fun! This is the greatest group to train with!

Happy Tails Dog Training had a great day sharing information on body language, some different training tips, and answering questions to help rescue dogs have the best chance for adoption. Taking on rescue dogs with various life experiences can be very challenging for foster homes and the dogs themselves.
