PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!

Just a reminder for those that think their small dogs or cats are safe in their backyard (even during the day).
Right now is coyote mating season, then comes pup season in the spring. Coyotes will be more aggressive, and will be teaching the pups how to hunt. Keep your pets safe, they're depending on you. 🐾. Thanks Charla for this.

Just one last walk…it has been a difficult week. I wilk not share some or the horrific things folks do for a dollar in the name of rescue.

In our time, too many walk alone—some lost, some abandoned, some never given a chance. And sadly, for many, peace comes only in the quiet beyond this world.

With all the heartbreak and hardships dogs endure, sometimes heaven is the gentlest path. We wish it weren’t so. We fight for every life we can. But when the battle is lost, we hold onto the truth that love follows them home.

To the ones who never knew kindness, and to the ones we held until the very end—you mattered. Always.

The Unseen Crisis: America's "Ghost Dogs"

There are millions of unwanted dogs in our country - far more than the ones you see at your local shelter. Many suffer in silence, neglected, abandoned, or struggling to survive on the streets. Some have "homes" but live chained outside in extreme weather, waiting for food and water that may never come. Others roam urban and rural areas, perhaps once someone’s pet, now discarded and left to fight for their lives. These invisible souls are often called "ghost dogs" - they exist, but few truly see them.

Why does this heartbreaking cycle continue? Overproduction - dogs are bred in massive numbers with little regard for their future.

🐾 Backyard breeders, driven by profit, sell puppies in parking lots and online.
🐾 Dog owners who irresponsibly keep an intact dog end up with unintended litters, often sold the same ways as puppies bred by backyard breeders.
🐾 Whether bred intentionally or unintentionally, too often puppies are dumped at shelters, many never make it out alive.

What can we do to reduce the number of unwanted dogs?
✔️ Understand that unaltered dogs WILL seek mates - it’s biology.
✔️ Spay and neuter your pets to prevent unwanted litters.
✔️ Support local spay/neuter clinics and education programs.

We cannot say it enough: Spaying and neutering is the ONLY way to stop this cycle.

Dogs deserve love, safety, and a future - not to be abandoned as ghosts.

Let’s be their voice. 🐾

HAPPY PUPDATE! This girl is safe and doing to Pawsitive Pathways 🥳❤

💵 For everyone who offered to donate you can do so here, thank you so so much!! https://www.pawsitivepathwaysco.com/lend-a-paw

Hi all! We have just one amazing dog in the La Junta shelter who needs out by Sunday, March 2. Transport is already arranged for this weekend, please let us know if your rescue can help. Thank you rescues!! 🙏

Dottie (5-6 year old female, kid friendly, dog friendly, 55lbs) 🐾
Hi guys! My name is Dottie and I’m just the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet! I’m about 5-6 years old so I still have youthful energy but I’m also down for a good nap/snuggle! My shelter mama has been taking great care of me and she even brought her granddaughter to help one day! She was giving me all the treats and I was such a gentle and good girl with her, as you can see in the first video- turns out kids are pretty cool!! I also have done great with other dogs! Can you help me find humans that will love me?

Trainer Notes:
"I thought Dottie was awesome! I did test her while she was eating a cookie for resource guarding, and she had none. She let me take that away from her no problem. I loved her body language. She had good confidence, no anxiety. She is what I would call a balanced dog meaning not overly anxious, not overly dominant and not overly submissive. Nice and balanced right in the middle. Dottie’s body language is wonderful with other dogs as well. "

*DISCLAIMER*
The La Junta and Rocky Ford shelters are holding facilities for police stations and DO NOT operate like city shelters. They do NOT allow adoptions due to city laws. Only approved PACFA 501c3 rescues can pull dogs from these shelters. Our organization is set up to network the dogs in these shelters to ALREADY approved rescue groups and then coordinate the transportation. We are just volunteers who network the dogs in these 2 shelters to help get them more exposure. These shelters usually give each dog a Duramane 5 Max vaccine, but that is all the vetting they receive. There are no vets on staff. We also coordinate transports each week (typically Saturday or Sunday) to the Denver area, which is a 5-6 hour roundtrip drive — we just do the best we can, but we are so grateful to have all of you guys to help save these pups! THANK YOU RESCUES!

🦷 True or False? Pet Dental Health Edition 🐾🐶🐱

❓ “Bad breath in pets is normal and nothing to worry about.”

🤔 What do you think? True or False?

📖 Answer: False! Bad breath in pets is often a sign of dental disease, which can lead to serious health issues if untreated. Regular brushing, dental treats, and vet checkups are essential to keeping your pet’s mouth healthy.
