Look at this handsome little guy. 💙 Hutch’s wonderful groomer is on maternity leave, so I took care of him today while she gets deserved rest. Switching up groomers and routines can sometimes be stressful, but he handled it like a champ and was such a good boy!

This adorable brother duo in their matching sweaters came by this morning for some trust- and confidence-building. ❤️ Had to snap pictures because the treat crumbs all over Denver’s beard and the table says it all. 😆 These guys have a lot of fear-based aggression with grooming, which we are hoping to slowly help them overcome with frequent visits that are short and sweet. Today’s visit included some floor snuggles, treats, and teaching each boy to voluntarily get on the table on their own (this will build a positive association with the grooming table, but also give them a feeling of choice and build their confidence). I will gradually add desensitization to tool sounds and sensations when they are ready. Working with dogs is not always glitter and rainbows, but I’m hoping our efforts will pay off and make a difference in these boys lives so that they can learn to tolerate and potentially even enjoy grooming. Baby steps!
