With the expected snow/ice tonight, along with some of the older girls going through a hard molt, it’s important that the girls get the extra calcium, protein and nutrients they need so their bodies don’t pull these things from their bones and put stress on their organs. In the mix today…eggs (the best protein source) egg shells (calcium) chia seeds (omegas) fresh parsley & carrots!

Please don’t buy a cute little chick or rabbit as an Easter gift. Buy a toy or candy instead. They can’t live on their own in the wild. If you’re not planning on keeping an animal it’s entire life, don’t get it. Rabbits can easily live ten years. They need vet care and a loving home. Chickens are messy and need predator proof housing. Chocolate is so much better!

A few days ago Duchess (aka “Boss Chick”) started to sneeze/cough after we had a freak snow storm, we immediately separated her from the flock in case she had developed something contagious, she has been inside with us the past 3 days and has made a big improvement (not enough I feel to move her outside just yet). Today while checking on the flock we noticed her sister Juliet wasn’t looking so great...her comb was dull, she was walking around very slowly and almost looked lost. 😢 We had the back door cracked and she heard her sister Duchess inside, she immediately lifted her head and ran towards the back door...poor Juliet seemed to be really missing her sister. We decided to bring Juliet inside, gave her an epson salt bath and a blow dry then allowed her to join her sister...she almost immediately started perking up...her comb reddened and she was just talking away to Duchess. She was so happy to have her sister back! 💞 We set them both up in a tent of their very own, hopefully they will help each other recover quicker being together! It’s truly amazing to see the emotional capabilities of these animals, truly amazing! They are currently sleeping side by side in their pink camouflage tent! 🥰 So thankful for my incredibly helpful little chicken momma .05 for helping me setup this girly chicken rehab tent!!!
