Our "Bark in the Park" summer edition fell victim to the rain and thunder showers we've been having--we moved up the pet contest by an hour and wrapped things up around 2:30. Thanks to everyone who did turn out to participate and support the event yesterday. Congrats to Sidney Allen Johnson's Payton, who won "Best in Show" in the contest.

Want to remind everyone about the 2nd Annual "FAST & FURRY" classic car show this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Butler County Fairgrounds. This year arts and crafts have been added as an attraction and our BCHS will be represented with a booth. This event is a fundraiser for our Greenville Animal Shelter. The ladies work hard to find homes for as many animals coming through their doors as possible through adoption/rescue commitments, so come on out and give them your support. I loved seeing all the great vintage and antique vehicles at last year's event--along with the pooches on parade! Admission is just $1 to the general public.
Hi, this is Angie, your friendly FB page admin and secretary and PR chair for the Butler County Humane Society. I am also adoptive parent of nine shelter/rescue cats and kittens and one rescue dog . . . and an avid photographer for pleasure and pay who also dips her toes into graphic design. So I am going to shamelessly plug my new online boutique, because 15 percent of the royalties I receive from each purchase will go to the Butler County Humane Society. Just starting to build my store, but check it out now because all orders of $19.99 are 30 percent off and the shipping's free at The Cat's Meow, Y'all!

Here's a sampling of what you will find . . .
And . . . it's a wrap on the pet calendar photo contest for 2017! Thanks to everyone who submitted photos--much appreciated!--and who shared their special rescue stories with us. It's going to be another beautiful and inspiring calendar to enjoy all year once the new year rolls in. One of the things that makes me particularly happy is knowing that many of the pets whose photos will grace those pages were adopted from shelters or rescues, or they were taken in from front doorsteps and from the sides of roads where they had been abandoned. We really do like happy endings! And you can help provide more animals from our county with their "fur-ever after" by purchasing your copies of our calendar come mid-November! A great gift that gives back to a great cause.
All of the animals in this slideshow vid are rescues found dumped on the roadside, at construction sites, abandoned to face the elements, hungry and afraid . . . some now live in other states while others found their fur-ever homes right here in Butler County. We strive to give as many animals as possible a happy ending. <3
NEW ADDITIONS AND GREAT BUYS STILL AVAILABLE AT OUR HIDDEN TREASURES BOOTH! Here's a message from our HT volunteer Doris McQuiddy:
Kimberly and I added new donations to the Hidden Treasures booth today. I noticed a couple of items that are great bargains still available-a set of oven proof dishes, disposable charcoal grills, and a silver flask. Two vacuum cleaners and a scrubber sold right after we got the price tags on them! How fine is that!!! We have children’s DVDs, DVD movies and CDs and some VHS tapes. There is a great set of binoculars in a leather carrying case for birders and football fans. There’s a picnic basket that might be handy for other uses too, a battery operated lantern, heated travel mugs, 2 ceiling lights ready to put up, and a nice soft portable kitty or small dog carrier. Stop in and see all the great buys!
View the slideshow to see some of these bargains and keep us in mind when you have gently used household items, children and pet toys and other items you could donate to us. <3
STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION THROUGH THE BCHS: Meet Piper Grace (solid black female) and Tiger (grey striped male) who have been with their foster mom Kimmie Plant practically since their birth in late March. Bottle-fed, this sweet and loving kittens are litter box trained and have had flea treatment and worming meds. Inside only kittens, Piper enjoys lots of TLC and Tiger likes being the center of attention. Adoption fee of $50 covers spay/ neuter when of age, medical treatment to date and rabies vaccination. A bargain for years of fun, friendship and loving companionship. <3
FYI: Our BCHS pet calendar submissions kick off Friday, July 1 and run through Sunday, July 31. There are still some details to iron out for this year due to some changes,<3 so we don't have a new entry form ready yet. I can tell you the donation per entry is $7, up from the $5 we've requested previously to help offset the costs of printing. I hope to have new entry forms ready by the end of the week. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to message me here or email me at [email protected]. And start sorting through those photos, folks! Can't wait to see them. <3
STILL LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME FOR SWEET KOKO!
Please help find KoKo a good home!! KoKo is an affectionate and loving cat about 6 years old. He's neutered and up-to-date on his rabies vaccination. He enjoys attention, and he loves being outside; he'll follow you around the yard like a dog. He's good with children and has been great around cats and dogs. We had to give him up for housing reasons, and he is currently at my mom's home near Greenville, but her other male cat doesn't like him and constantly fights with him. KoKo is miserable there! If you know of anyone looking for a friendly cat, KoKo is the perfect pet! If you're not a Greenville/Butler County resident, we can get him to you. Contact: Amellia Hataway, [email protected], or call Phyllis Dantzler, 334-382-2028.
