We still have 2 pups left- Chance & Skip. Chance is ready to go. He’s easy-going and sweet. He’ll make someone the perfect snuggle buddy. Skip will be staying with us for a while. Our vet recommended keeping him until he’s a bit older. He has a hernia that will need surgical repair around 6 months old. I occasionally have people inquire about older pups, but it’s extremely rare that I have one. If anyone is looking for one, he will be ready in May-ish. He will have his hernia repaired and be neutered at the same time. We will begin his training while he’s here to make things easier on his future family! He’ll be crate trained, and near completely potty trained by that time. He’ll know his name and maybe a few basic commands as well. Since he’ll be here a while, we’re in no hurry to find him a family, but if you know someone who is looking for a pre-trained pup, please share. This isn’t really dog related, but many of y’all have kept up with us as a family for several years now. Today my baby turned 1 and I just had to share his cake smashing moment. ☺️ He dove right in and his cavy friends (just below his highchair) got a few crumbs of his pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting. Sadly Bridget’s blenheim male passed away overnight. Praying the little girl stays strong. Fading puppy syndrome can affect entire litters, but I’ve never had it hit us this hard before. 💔 On a brighter note, these older pups are absolutely thriving! They got to do some exploring the other day, but I guess I’ve been so bogged down with Bridget’s babies, I forgot to post these pics. I love letting them experience new things. I feel like it goes a long way in their confidence and development before they head off to their new homes. 💕 (love it when you catch their ears mid-flop 😂🥰)

Long, sad post… I’ve been waiting to update everyone on Bridget’s litter… hoping to give good news, but sadly it’s not all good. Sunday morning Bridget woke me up at 4am in labor. (When pregnant mammas get close to their due date, we move them into our bedroom in an XL dog crate so I can assist with birth if it’s in the middle of the night. They stay with us for the first few weeks after birth too so I can check on the pups during the night). Anyway, her labor was slow because her pups were very large. The first baby born was a ruby male. He struggled from the get-go. He had inhaled some amniotic fluid and had trouble breathing. I worked on him for hours in between the birth of his siblings. To my surprise, he was gradually improving. (I didn’t think he’d survive the first hour based on how bad he was struggling). Bridget went on to have 2 more healthy blenheims followed by a stillborn pup. That baby hadn’t developed properly in the womb and never took a breath. There was no hope for him and I couldn’t let that distract me from helping the ruby boy who stood a chance. Over that first 24 hours, I thought I had witnessed a miracle. He was really coming along! I decided to name him Lucky. But I knew we weren’t out of the woods and I’ve been watching him like a hawk. While everything seemed to be going so well, I just woke up at 3:00 to check on him and he appeared to be having a seizure. I held him while he took his last breath. 😢 So that’s why I’m shaken this morning… I won’t be going back to sleep. They say 30% of pups don’t survive and I try my hardest to make it less than that. We haven’t had a death in the last 4 litters, but this one was 50%. 😭 I also feel bad because I have so many people waiting on pups that I’m not able to deliver. I group my waitlist based on what color/gender people want, and some folks have been waiting close to a year for tricolored and black & tan pups. I explain to them that this is nature and I have no control over what pups are born, but I still hate disappointing people. Sometimes I consider adding more females to our program so that I can fill these needs, but I know if I do, I won’t be able to maintain this way of breeding in our home. That’s very important to me. I want our dogs and puppies to feel like family… not have a puppy mill. Sorry for rambling. I apologize to those who are still waiting on pups. I hope you can understand. 🫶

Rotten Muffin. Too smart for her own good. I heard the sound of crinkling paper coming from my bedroom and caught her red handed. She had helped herself to a cow hoof out of the puppy go home bags!
