šŸŒŸLINT IS HOMEšŸŒŸ

Well actually heā€™s at The Little Farm where he will spend a week until we can officially bring him home for good! We decided to keep him there so he could be close to me during the work day, Iā€™ll be just a call or text away. We also felt this would be the easiest way to keep things clean and sanitary throughout his recovery.

He seems so happy to be back with his family, even though heā€™s not home Iā€™ll be stopping in to see him 2-3 times daily while heā€™s there. Lint currently has a bandage covering his sutures that should fall off in just a couple days. We will keep the area covered with a t-shirt until the sutures start to absorb. Other then that lint is good to go!

We canā€™t thank everyone enough for the continued support with Lintā€™s case. This boy is the sweetest baby and genuinely seems very gratefulšŸ§”

Mickā€™s color was always orange and I hate to bring it out of retirement so soon but man does it seem so fitting.

šŸšØLINT UPDATEšŸšØ

Yā€™all have blown us away with support in regards to Lintā€™s case! Weā€™ve met our fundraiser goalā¤ļø this is a huge relief for us. Thanks to all the donations we have recieved we get to just focus on Lintā€™s recovery from here.

We will be traveling to New Bolton Center sometime tomorrow morning to bring Mr. Lint back to his home. Heā€™s one leg lighter BUT from what Iā€™ve heard he hasnā€™t skipped a beat. His care team at New Bolton had to put a mirror in his stall to keep him from being so lonely.

We are so so excited to watch little Lint grow and we canā€™t wait to share his milestones with his support system! Donā€™t forget to like, share, and follow our page to keep up on updates moving forwardā¤ļø

Once Lint is home and settled tomorrow I plan to make a video of him to share!

šŸšØLINT UPDATE HELP STILL NEEDEDšŸšØ

First off we want to thank you guys for the donations already made, little Lint doesnā€™t know how lucky he is to have such an amazing support system.

With that being said, we still need your help! After a lot of back and fourth with Lintā€™s care team at New Bolton and his regular vet here at home we all decided that with the condition of his leg and joint, amputation would be the best option for him.

Unfortunately, Lintā€™s leg and joint had much more damage then we originally saw on x-ray. His team had offered a series of procedures to try and stabilize his joint and bone however the recovery time was long, the aftercare would be aggressive, and his time as a little lamb would have been spent in and out of the hospital with little confidence that the damage would be reversible. Not to mention the amount of pain he would have been in.

What does this mean for Lint?

The decision was not easy at all, but by choosing amputation Lint is predicted to have a pretty speedy recovery. Heā€™s currently staying at NBC with his amazing care team who are prepping him for his LIFE CHANGING surgery tomorrow morning. We canā€™t wait for our boy to be home, but we know that heā€™s in the best hands!

We plan to continue to keep everyone updated as we get more information on Lintā€™s progress. We are hoping to have him home early next week!

Money raised: $568
Total needed: $2050

Hereā€™s a breakdown-
Consultation: $350
Additional X-rays + Joint Tap: $300
Amputation Procedure: $800
Room and board: $400 (maybe more or less depending on how long he needs to stay)
Take Home Medications: $200

*This doesnā€™t include follow up care, we will cross that bridge when we get there*

šŸšØURGENT HELP NEEDEDšŸšØ

And here we areā€¦.again. We recieved Lintā€™s radiology report back yesterday afternoon and learned that his joint is septic. After speaking to his doctor we came up with a plan to start on antibiotics and continue with anti-inflmmatories until we could get him in for an appointment with a specialist at New Bolton Center.

Upon calling and speaking with a doctor at New Bolton today they strongly encouraged us to bring him in this afternoon for urgent treatment. The sooner they start treatment on his little leg the better possibility they have of saving it (which is our goal).

The last thing we want is for Lint to live uncomfortably so we did what we knew was right and brought him in right away.

We always want to be transparent with you guys inregaurds to our efforts, the animals, and what we need help with. Itā€™s hard to always ask for help but the reality is, we cant do it without you.

Lint is just a baby and has so much life to live. Please help us help him. Anything helps! Tell your friends about us ā¤ļø

As always, thank you for all of the support!

Mr. Lint had a great visit at the vet today for some x-rays and a fluid analysis of his joint. We are patiently waiting for the x-ray report from the radiologist!

While we wait for results he was able to get a steroid injection + antibiotic injection in his joint to help with his swelling and discomfort.

Even though this little guy is a little different he is so happy to be here. Look at that smilešŸ–¤

We will continue to update you as more information is revealed. We are really hoping to save his little leg!

Itā€™s that time of the year again! All of our moo moo residents had their hoofs trimmed and their vaccines boostered this past week.

Huge shout out to our friends at The Little Farm for the helping hand, Dr. Mike and his medical students from Four State Veterinary Services, and David Szelestei Hoof Care for taking such great care of my babies feets!

Our herd is protected and comfy for another yearā¤ļø

To add- we are missing our sweet mick so so much HOWEVER he would have hated this task.

We opened our arms and hearts to a sweet little ram this past weekend named Lint (because hims looks like dryer lint šŸ„¹). We are so excited to watch this little guy grow big and strong!

Lint was born on a farm right here in Delaware about a month ago šŸ¤ . He was born with an infection in the joint of his front right leg. Lintā€™s original owners fought hard for him but decided to surrender him into our care for a more permanent life.

Unfortunately, due to Lintā€™s injury his front right leg is really stiff and maybe even fused together. We are working on exercises to help with range of motion but wonā€™t know his long term situation until we have the vet check him out.

What does this mean for Lint?

At this moment in time Lint is having the best time. Despite his funny walk, he gets around great and shows no signs of pain or discomfort. His favorite part of the day is bottle time (which is the case for most babies). Heā€™s already eating hay and eager to try grain after his morning milky. Heā€™s the most curious boy and loves to munch on leaves.

We plan to have the vet out soon to evaluate Lintā€™s next steps along with vaccinations and castration.

As always, we need your help! Every dollar helps us, help them. We canā€™t do it without you. Iā€™m estimating Lintā€™s first vet bill will be around $500 for his absolute necessities. This doesnā€™t include his milk replacer, normal grain/hay, and other things he needs to succeed at our rescue. If you canā€™t help financially, just remember sharing and liking this post and our page goes a long way.

What an absolute honor it was Mick. From the moment we received the call that you needed our help, until the moment you took your last breath we loved you so much. The love you had for absolutely no one but your sister Minnie was so apparent and I know she will grieve you just like we are.

I wonā€™t tell Mickā€™s whole story, but for those who donā€™t know, Mick was surrendered to us with a few different diagnoses. He spent his first 2 weeks or so in our care at New Bolton Center, then when he finally came home he was quarantined and on high doses of antibiotics for a month +. Mick was also blind due to untreated infection. Long story short, we always knew that a result of micks rough start to life could lead to a weakened immune system or other chronic (and life threatening) complications. With this being said it all happened so fast, he was fine until he wasnā€™t anymore.

Last Sunday we spent the entire day trying to get Mick up, we called our vet right away and had all the appropriate tests ran that we could in order to hopefully get him better. This past week has been a roller coaster, Mick has had days that made us think he was getting better, but heā€™s also had days that were really hard to watch. We made the decision this evening to let Mick rest. Our hearts are broken that we couldnā€™t do more. In the same breath, we are so grateful that we were able to make this decision for him, that it was even an option. Mick will always be a reason why we continue to do what we do.

We cannot thank everyone enough for their kind words of healing for Mick. We thank those who were able to come out and help try to lift him. We thank those who continue to support our mission.

Miss you already Mick and we will love you foreveršŸ§”

Weā€™ve been so lucky. Weā€™ve went so long without running into any health issues at Open Arms. Yesterday I noticed some weakness in Mr. Mickā€™s rear, but once he was up and moving all seemed normal so I didnā€™t think anything about it. Today when I went out to start the day I noticed that Mick couldnā€™t get up. I spent most of the day trying different things to get him up. We tried his favorite snacks to entice him. We tried different techniques to lift him (which was impossible because heā€™s a big boy now (like 600 lbs)). Between my efforts to get him up we spent a lot of time snuggled up until his vet could get here. Physically, Mick is doing great other than his weakness in his rear legs. We decided to run some blood work to see if thereā€™s anything funky going on. Fingers crossed itā€™s an easy fix! For tonight Mick is chillen with his brother and sister. He has a pain injection on board and enough hay within his reach to occupy him til morning. We are so grateful that Dr. Mike from was able to come out on such short notice to see Mick and address our concerns. Hoping for a speedy recovery for our sweet little guyšŸ§”

2024 was for sure the hardest year yet. With my partner and co-owner of the rescue away Iā€™ve had to learn how to do a lot on my own this past year. Financially we are drained. Emotionally I feel more grateful than ever. Physically I feel like I couldnā€™t imagine my life being spent any other way.

Amongst the normal care of our forever residents these are some of the animals Iā€™ve had the pleasure of caring for this past year. Weā€™ve lost a lot due to circumstances out of our control, but at the very least it was a pleasure keeping them comfortable until it was time.

In 2025 I hope to have the opportunity to play a role in more success stories but Iā€™m also looking forward to giving all of my love to the animals that may not have much time left.

Cheers to 2025 and whatever it has in store for our little rescue!

We got to celebrate our boys 2 year ā€œgotcha dayā€ today! We originally got to bring them home on November 6th of 2022, but we wanted to wait to celebrate until their dada was home this week!

These boys are so so special to our rescue. Earl and Harvey (The Ice Cream Twins) have brought so much joy and happiness to our lives. We love them so much!

Watching these two grow up has been such a pleasure and we canā€™t wait to see what the future holds for themā¤ļøšŸ’™
