I had the pleasure of owning, promoting and loving APHA/PtHA stallion, SKIPA SPLASH, for almost 12 years. I couldn't have asked for a better first stallion experience. He was always a gentleman and sired some incredible foals over the years. I frequently heard from mare and foal owners, trainers and exhibitors who saw "Coz", whether via video or in person, that "he was born before his time". He had the modern movement that we all look for today and had he been given the opportunity to show under saddle, I know he would have been a star and made a huge mark on the industry! His foals are known not only for their impeccable movement but especially for their great minds, willingness and love for their riders!
APHA stats as of today, show that "Coz" is the sire of 58 APHA registered foals from 2000 to 2016 and of those, 12 have APHA show records in Open, Amateur, Amateur Walk Trot, Novice Amateur, Youth and Youth Walk Trot accumulating 9 ROMS, 4 APHA Grand Champions, 5 APHA Reserve Grand Champions, and 246.5 points in Halter, Longe Line, In Hand Trail, Showmanship, Color Class, Hunt Seat Equitation, Hunter Under Saddle, Western Horsemanship, and Western Pleasure!!
PtHA stats as of today, show that of those 58 APHA registered foals, 8 of them are also registered with PtHA and 7 of those have PtHA show records in Open, Youth Novice, Youth Amateur, Novice Amateur and Amateur accumulating a World Championship, a World Show Top 5, two World Show Top 10s, a Congress Championship, a Congress Top 10 and 198 points in Halter, Overo Color, Tobiano Color, Trail In Hand, Hunter Under Saddle, English Pleasure, Disciplined Rail English, English Showmanship, Western Showmanship, English Equitation, Western Horsemanship, and Barrel Racing!!
In addition to the accomplishments above, there are also several Futurity Champions and Circuit Champions, and many showing on the 4-H, High School Equestrian Teams, WSCA and open show circuits. Additional disciplines from those listed above include dressage and hunter/jumpers as well as good 'ol youth/family horses, trail companions, and stellar broodmares. This list will continue to grow as there are some out there still showing and a few that will just be getting ready to hit the show pen over the next couple years.
I want to thank Tina Langness for her knowledge, guidance, and encouragement when I made the crazy decision to buy a stallion and for her help in selecting "Coz". I also want to thank Liz Olson for allowing me the opportunity to own "Coz" and for the great friendship it created. And thank you to all of the mare owners who chose to breed to "Coz" over the years. Thank you to all of the foal owners, trainers, and exhibitors who chose a "Coz" baby to ride and love! He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten and his legacy will continue through his foals and grand-foals!! Rest in peace my dear sweet boy! May you frolic in greener pastures until we meet again.
