A small time breeder with a BIG heart. I strive to raise Quality, Healthy, Happy and Fun Loving AKC (American Kennel Club) Pembroke Welsh Corgis. (we DO NOT breed for quantity, to fill the demand of the popularity to the breed. PERIOD!) The Puppies we produce here are raised in our home with myself, my husband, our daughter and all our animals: The Corgis of course, our German Shepherds, our old boy a Mutt, an African Grey Parrot, and a Cat.
We take pride in all of our Corgis and their puppies. Once a Muddy Paw always a Muddy Paw, and we will stay by their side for the remainder of their life, answering any and all questions. providing knowledge, help, love and support. We put in a lot of hard work and effort into making sure our dogs and our puppies get all the proper care, nutrition, love and attention they could need. The puppies come pre spoiled, loved and socialized.
Our dogs and Puppies, while they are with us, are updated regularly on our page. You are more than welcome to follow along with the puppies stories and watch them grow until they go to their new homes. You will also see updated posts about our dogs here and watch them grow and see their lives also. we also update our page when we are expecting a litter and birth announcements once puppies are on the ground. if you at any time have a question about our dogs or puppies please message us and we will get back to you at our earliest convenience.
All our puppies have their dew claws removed and their tails docked (if needed) since we do have natural bobs born here. They leave here with their first set of shots given by our Licensed Veterinarian and also a Veterinary Health Certificate is Provided. Puppies will be ready to go home between 8-12 weeks of age. this depends greatly upon when they have been weaned from their mother and how well they are doing socially and individually. Puppies have been de-wormed at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks
Please Remember Once you bring home your new puppy, they will need to continue to receive all their proper vaccinations once they leave here. Please take caution with your puppy, as until they are fully vaccinated they can get very sick, and catch unnecessary diseases. avoid high trafficking dog areas such as dog parks, pet stores, rest stops and even vets offices. When visiting your vets office please do not let your puppy touch the floor and bring something with your for your puppy to stand on when put on and surface. (such as a towel or blanket.)
Our dogs have been Tested for the fallowing Genetic Disorders. DM, VWD1, & EIC. Below I will discuss a little about what these are and also talk about Arthritis, & IVDD, which both can be misinterpreted as being DM.
EXERCISE INDUCED COLLAPSE (EIC) - A genetic “exercise” disorder found in many breeds including the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Brought on by excessive exercise, this disorder causes a dog to physically collapse roughly after 5-30 minutes. The dog loses all control of its muscles usually starting in the hind quarters. These attacks can last an upwards of 30 minutes and in extreme cases can cause death following an EIC attack. (Dogs testing at risk, will start showing symptoms of this disorder between 5 months and 3 years of age.)
VON WILLEBRAND DISEASE TYPE 1 (VWD1) - A genetic “bleeding” disorder found in many breeds including the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Brought on after a injury, surgery, trauma, or loss of blood through bodily secretions. This disorder causes a dog to have excessive blood loss. The reason behind this is do to the dog not having or having a lack of (vWf) Which in turn is a binding protein to help the blood clot. (Dogs testing at risk, can show symptoms of this disorder at any age.)
DEGEGERATIVE MYELOPATHY (DM) - A genetic “spinal cord” disorder found in many breeds including the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Though there is so much information on the Web, and many different opinions on DM, there is actually very little known about the onset cause or causes of this disorder. However what is known about DM: A slowly progressing disorder of the spinal cord, causing paralysis in the hind quarters over a period of time. This disorder is a “PAINLESS” paralysis. BUT With that said the affects of DM over time can cause neck and shoulder problems in a dog due to physical wear from dragging the hind quarters. Studies show that only 3-5% of at risk dogs will actually develop DM in their lifetime. The only way to confirm diagnosis of this disorder through a Necropsy (autopsy), which is preformed under a microscope after the dog is deceased. (Dogs testing at risk can start showing symptoms between 8-12 years of age.)
ARTHRITIC DEGENERATION (ARTHRITIS) - A very common “inflammation” disorder found in many breeds including the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. There are NO genetic Testing kits available for Arthritis. Brought on by a painful inflammation of the joints, which can arise from numerous causes. With that said there are many different outcomes with the development of arthritis in dogs. Arthritis is most commonly mistaken for DM in many dog breeds, however arthritis is very painful in a dog whom develops this disorder. (Dogs can start showing symptoms for this disease at any age.)
INTERVERTEBRAL DISK DISEASE (IVDD) - A “disk rupture” disorder found in many breeds including the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. IVDD has several “types” which leads to disk problems. It can be a sudden spontaneous disk rupture, or a slow age-related degeneration of the disk (depending on type.) Any form of IVDD will make a cause for back pain, rear limb paralysis, and inability to walk or feel the hind quarters. (Dogs can start showing signs for this disease at any age but mainly 5 years of age or older. In most commonly found in dogs 8-10 years of age.)
If you are interested in a Muddy Paws Puppy please message us via Facebook or Email us. We are more than happy to answer any and all questions you may have, and we will answer to the best of our knowledge. If we don't have an answer we will get back to you once we inquire the correct information. We give out applications once puppies are born and contracts for when they go home. WE RESURVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE OR DENY A PUPPY TO ANYONE WITHOUT REASON FOR CAUSE.
We almost always are asked why do we price our Puppies the way that we do. Well, There is a lot that goes into Raising a Litter Starting with the parent dogs. The cost of not only buying but raising a healthy dog, housing them, having them health Tested, the Vet Bill's that come along with it and insuring a sound Temperament in said dog, is a lot of time work and money. With Breeding comes not only having a Female, but also buying a stud dog to raise, or finding the right Stud for what we need and finding one that works with where we may be going in our program. If I where to find an outside Stud then your looking at stud fees and travel fees. After a successful Breeding, you will then need to be taking care of said Female while she’s Pregnant. The vet bills that come with that, such as X-rays and Ultrasounds to see how many she may be having along with making sure your female can deliver Naturally. If there are Issues then your adding on the cost of a veterinary assisted delivery, Scheduled Cesarean or an Emergency Cesarean. Before puppies are delivered we will need to make sure we have all the things we will need for a Clean Whelp area during the Birth and care for the Female and her Newborn Puppies afterwards. Once the Puppies are here, we are raising the calorie intake for our Female to help provide for her litter with a higher protein food. then there is the cost and the care of the puppies. Their food cost, vet bill costs (shots, health certs, etc.) If something were to happen where moms weren't producing enough milk, then Supplementing would come into play. Tube or bottle feeding every 2-3 hours or every 6 hours 24/7. All depending on the situation and age. If a puppy got sick calls for more vet visits and appropriate testing, which means more bills, along with more care at home to provide for not only that puppy but the litter. Helping to insure that no other puppy or puppies in the litter don’t fall ill. Then there is also Cleaning. Twice daily when there little, and more frequently as puppies age. A dirty living environment is unhealthy and just not right. The time one puts into a single Litter "as mentioned above" along with socializing puppies, etc. Takes up a LOT of ones time and Energy but it needs to be done. We love every single one of these puppies, They are Family while they are here with us, and even when they go home. It is our Hope and our Goal to Find them their own Forever Families that will love and Care for them just as much as we have.
At this time we do not ship our puppies, any one getting a puppy from us that is not local will have to come pick up their new puppy in person.

Please Understand: You are Inquiring about a member of the Herding Breed. Corgis are amazing dogs, and can make wonderful Family pets. Please do your research on this Breed. Please do your research before inquiring about a puppy. Make sure this is the right breed for you. You can find lots of information on our Website www.muddypawscorgis.weebly.com or other Corgi Based Websites.
Corgis where Bred to Herd Cattle and Larger livestock. They are strong willed, and hard working animals and they have a strong work drive. You will need to understand that this breed is very vocal. They are Barkers/Talkers, it's part of their charm. They Nip, Bark, and make all sorts of Crazy sounds. They can be stubborn and Ruthless at times. What may come off as Aggressive behavior to some is actually part of their Strong will to herd.
Another thing that gets people is this is a breed that sheds A LOT! They have a double coat and two primary shedding seasons that last six months each time. in other words be prepared to have lots of fur (aka Corgi Glitter) everywhere. A good grooming routine, a sturdy broom, and a great Vacuum.
They need to be Trained young. Consistency is a MUST when training this breed. They need to be told what is allowed and what is not. Rewarding and Praising good behavior and Properly Scolding and Correcting the bad behavior. This Breed has a lot of drive and they need to have a job. A jobless Corgi is a bored Corgi, and a bored Corgi leads to Destruction
BEFORE BUYING A PUPPY!!! Whether you are buying from us or from someone else please keep in mind, Puppies are exactly that, they are PUPPIES! Please make sure you are prepared when you bring a puppy home, as you are now its new parent. They chew, they mess, they get into EVERYTHING, and they bite. Puppies are like kids, they don't like being told no, but it has to happen. You will need to make sure you are up to the challenge before getting a puppy. Raising a puppy is expensive, hard, repetitive, and tedious. your buttons will be pushed, but very rewarding in the end if done right. Socialization and proper training is KEY!!!
Owning a puppy or a dog is a long term commitment. It may be fun to think about having an adorable new furry friend, but they grow up. can you commit to a 12 or even 15 years. If life happens will you be able to let it happen with your new dog? (Marriage, Divorce, New Baby, New Job, Moving, Traveling, etc...) Do you understand the Costs in owning a dog. Not just the initial Buying of said puppy/dog, but the costs of raising and owning a dog. (Vet bills such as yearly shots, food bills, housing bills, boarding bills, training bills, destruction bills, etc...) PLEASE MAKE SURE A PUPPY IS THE RIGHT FIT FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
After everything is carefully thought out and you decide that a puppy is the right fit for you, then CONGRATULATIONS! now its time to make sure you find the right breeder that works well with you, and be honest with that breeder. If you don't like how they do something or don't agree with their breeding program, TELL them you are moving on so you don't leave them hanging. Creating a relationship with the breeder is a major process.
As a breeder I bring these puppies into the world, loving and caring for them. I will always be there for the life of the puppy. It breaks my heart when someone drops off the face of the earth and never updates me on how the puppy is doing. So please never feel like you can’t contact me with questions and update me on your puppy as it grows. Your updates will never be annoying, even if their every day!
Thank You for taking the time to read this, and thank you for your interest in a MUDDY PAWS BABY!! We hope to be speaking with you in the Future!
Best Regards,
