Oklahoma racing industry...you should be ashamed.
Shouldn't you be supporting the aftercare organizations that actually care about a horse's future?

09/07/2023

Aftercare organizations should have to report to HISA exactly how many horses come to them so broken that they can never have another career or even be pasture sound.
Why do racing connections expect aftercare organizations to handle all expenses when a horse breaks down?
If a horse gets injured while racing, shouldn't that be the responsibility of the owner and trainer?
Maybe if it was, some people might be more mindful of their practices.
An organization we know of was contacted yesterday to take in 3 horses from 3 different tracks, 3 different connections....all injured with new career limiting injuries. 1 has been running with known chips in both knees for a year.
This is what is killing the sport. Not HISA

Whoa! What is going on here?
An aftercare facility in Oklahoma is telling people that would like to retire their horses there that TCA (Thoroughbbred Charities of America) REQUIRES them to collect a monetary fee (to be paid to TCA) if a horse is being donated to that facility.
This is an outright lie. That "fee" goes right into the pocket of the people running that facility.
No surprise though, this particular facility is known for their lies and deceit, yet are fully supported by Re*****on Park.
And once again. The horses pay the price, because this facility is not all about the horse.
They are however, all about the money.
Horse in question: Angel's Cut.

An honest perspective. Hopefully someone in a position to make change will step up.

We have a really disturbing story coming up about Oklahoma racing and aftercare.
Stay tuned...an interview with the people involved is in.progress.
Imagine letting a personal vendetta get in the way of doing the right thing for horses.
The lengths people will go to in order to keep an organization with a stellar reputation from being supported by the racing community is astounding.
Shame on you TRAO and Re*****on Park for allowing high profile owners that continually put horses at risk to dictate which organization receives support from the local racing community. All because their particular stable fills races. It's really just wrong.

Now here is an interesting story.
Isn't Sara Rae Draper and Dragon Stables the same place that starved the bailed mare named Storm Kitles...who happened to be pregnant....and thankfully was taken in by a legitimate rescue who foaled her out...the baby survived but unfortunately was orphaned 3 days later due to the poor condition of the mare, (who was not in bad shape when she arrived to Sara Draper.)
Dragon Stables may be a 501 C3, but they should not be trusted with any horse's welfare, much less be bailing 9 horses with no safety net.

As the 2021 racing season comes to a close, please keep in mind there are many horses that will need a new life after racing.
This page is dedicated to keeping these horses safe.
If you are an owner or a trainer of a horse that will be retiring, please contact any of the organizations that are set up to help. Or you may contact the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance to find an accredited facility near you.

We are asking for your engagement to help us identify the tracks that do not protect their athletes.

Any others?

This is the kind of thing that makes horse racing look bad.
WAY TO GO OKLAHOMA HORSE RACING COMMISSION.
This is not the first time you have not protected the horses that make your paycheck possible.
You are on our radar.

Can anyone confirm the names of the US racetracks that do not support the safety of retired racehorses? We are speaking about carrying out their "policies" when actual proof of offenders are given?
We really want to know your stories!

We are taking the blinkers off on the subject of horse racing,, no slaughter policies, and the aftercare of horses after racing.
We will also be pointing out the tracks and telling the truth about the ones that refuse to see the importance.
