Hello Rabbit Friends!
It's been a hot minute since I've shared anything here.
Brooke was able to attend the MSRBA shows in Lansing last month, where she got a few legs with her siamese sables.
She was excited to be attending the Evart show this weekend, but other things have come up that won't allow us to be there, but hope it is a wonderful show, and we look forward to seeing you all in Lowell May 17-18!

MI OH RBA Christmas Show 2023

We enjoyed a fun weekend in Frankenmuth with old and new rabbit friends and some beautiful animals!

Show B - Dogwood Hollow's Sibble won BOSG
Show D - HF Muddy Buddy and Dogwood Hollow's Sibble were BOG and BOSG
Show E - HF Muddy Buddy Placed BOG

This marks 5 legs for Brooke's first generation homegrown doe, Sibble ☺️

GLRCC 2023 Fall Show

Hallmark Farms' Muddy Buddy Placed BOV in Show A and BOSB in Show B!
Stephen's Phoenix placed BOSG in both shows
Dogwood Hollow's Sibble placed BOSG in show A
Covert's Call me Al placed BOSG in show A
Brooke also received good comments on a couple of her junior grow outs!

Brooke pulled this doe out Wednesday before the show and said she was a little bummed she wasn't developing how she had hoped, but that she was gonna give it a little more time before making a final decision.
Yesterday she pulled her back out, surprised by the difference just a few days can make and glad she didn't make a hasty decision.
I've gotta brag on this kids discernment and patience ♡

RVRC Fall Show 2023
The first of hopefully many rabbit shows for my daughter, who marks 4 generations of Netherland Dwarfs ♡
Phoenix won 2 legs including BOSB under Drew Bliss! Congrats to Cherie on her BOBs and BOS!
Classes were smaller, so even though Brooke had all group winnings, most weren't enough to earn a leg.
Still a wonderful time getting to know some new rabbit friends, and see some beautiful animals!

HOM/SVRCC 2023 show

Brooke had originally planned on a nice line up to show, but HF Muddy Buddy was the only one who wasn't blowing his coat. She decided to enter him in youth and open, which was a good call, as there was only one other exhibitor

In open show A he placed BOG under Bryan Shirk
In open show B he placed BOV under Drew Bliss
Finally getting him out of his 2nd place streak and winning his first 2 legs!

Thanks to Hallmark Farms Rabbitry for allowing Brooke to get this buck. Their rabbits have had a huge part in helping start Brooke's herd off great, and she's excited to have picked up 2 Jr does from them this weekend!

Beautiful rabbits on the tables! Congrats to everyone on their wins!

13th annual Blush and Bashful Triple Show for Breast Cancer

Brooke had 4 out on the tables and got at least one BOG leg with Steven's Phoenix in youth show A, and the rest we'll have to see about when we get reports back 😁

This was my first time back at the show table (and first time in open) since getting back in myself.

NIRCC Spring show 2023

Steven's Phoenix won his third leg with a Best Opposite of Breed!
BOB went to a beautiful Broken Black doe!

Brooke was beyond thrilled and is excited to continue showing him and watch his offspring develop.

It's officially show season!
I'm a little rusty on my posing and photo taking skills 😅
But, we had a great time at the MSRBA Spring convention last weekend.

Steven's Phoenix (REW) earned his first 2 legs by placing BOG in show A and B

HF Muddy Buddy (SS) was 2nd in his class for both shows, losing to a beautiful buck! He got good comments, and hopefully he'll mature into his Sr group a little more

Heavenly's Shady Business (SP) was BOV for both shows, but not enough competition

HF Snowman (REW) Was last of his class in both shows. I could see him maturing into his Sr class a little more yet, but as of now, I think he'll add some nice depth to our herd 😊

I'm so proud of Brooke for how quickly she's picking up on show lingo and feeling more confident to be up at the show table.

Hey everyone!
After taking a year off of raising rabbits, my younger sister has decided she would like to join the hobby and has asked me to come alongside and help her in the process of starting her own herd.
It's been so fun to help her strategize a plan and learn the difference between a rabbit of quality and one that simply "qualifies".
Seeing her learn so quickly and have such a heart for the breed has been such a joy to watch!

She has acquired 5 beautiful rabbits and will spend the next year showing (mainly for educational purposes), breeding, learning paperwork, pedigrees, genetics, etc. As well as culling and understanding how her herd develops and what to watch for in a quality young rabbit. Temperament is still extremely important to us, and so far she has done a great job at making all her rabbits feel comfortable and loved, so I'm not too worried about that!

We're so happy to be back, and I may even start my own herd back up once I'm more settled in my new area 🫣

There's something almost nostalgic about the atmosphere of a rabbit show; with the smell of fresh shavings, the steady hum of people and carriers, and best of all, rabbits! It makes for a few funny looks and side eyes in conversations held outside the rabbit community, but honestly, this is the one place we go where everything else just seems to not exist. It's friendships that come together with an understanding that we are all there for the same reason; to work together to better our breed(s) and compete with healthy showmanship. Raising and showing rabbits teaches you how to lose graciously, win humbly, and sacrifice your time and energy for something fully dependent on your proper care. It's not all beautiful bunnies, ribbons, and cute babies... it's a lot more blood, sweat and tears than you'd think, but it's a responsibility I think any rabbit owner is proud to have ♡
