Today Lambo learned to get over his fears of scary wind and blustery trees/bushes by giving mom his focus and trusting that she’s got him. Mom kept his attention on her and had him practice a few commands he already knows, in windy(scary) conditions. Doing this will not only build your pups confidence but will strengthen the bond between you and your pup! SO so proud of Lambo and his owners🤍🐾✨
What an entire day using “place” looks like in our household! Place is easily one of my top 2obedience commands out there. It’s practicality make both yours, and your pups day easier and your bond stronger🤍🐾. We used place today: right when they woke up and mom made coffee, breakfast, Amazon porch pickups, afternoon snacks, when dad/guests come into the home, brush outs, chores, and dinner! So many great uses for this command. Hopefully this inspires you to try this one at home. Happy training y’all🤗🤍🐾✨
Want a hot tip to help make training and walks more productive and stress free? Don’t start Any type of training with them until they’re calm! Trying to teach a dog a new behavior or have a calm loose leash walk while they’re excited just isn’t going to happen. Here you see I don’t leash, go out the door, start our walk until graci is calm. Because of that you’ll notice she listened to commands and behaved perfectly even with distractions! (Cars&barking dogs). Calm confidence is key for any time spent working with your pup. Happy training everyone🤗🐾✨
Proofing Stay with Teddy!! We’ve worked so hard proofing this. Teddy was able to focus on his command through jumping jacks, terrible dance moves, and treats being scattered in front of him. So proud of this guy! 🤍🐾
Working “touch” with Ruger! It’s a wet one here in SC today so we shortened our walk and got some brain work in! Fun fact Ruger has never worked this previously and this was his second time ever, doing this. Nose targeting, often called “touch” is all about having your dog touch a target with the tip of their nose. Where your dogs nose goes their head and body follow! This is a great engagement game to play with your pup. It gets them interested and focused on you, teaches them bites and nibbles aren’t appropriate but boops are(and who doesn’t love a cutie dog boop!), and can even redirect anxious and reactive behavior. To teach “touch” Have treats in one hand behind your back. Hold your other hand up in front of them. When they boop you, yes and reward! *important to note: do not move your target hand to the dog. If your dog isn’t interested in the target hand, hold a treat in between your fingers and the moment he boops, move hand away and yes/treat from other hand so he doesn’t think he’s getting a treat for nibbling and going after the target hand. Once your dog gets the hang of this you can move your target hand all around for him/her to go to. Once they boop you consistently 90% of the time add the word “touch” in. A fun little trick your friends and family will love taking part in also! Happy training, friends! 🐾✨
Perfecting “Place” with Teddy! This little handsome man loves to wrestle with his human siblings a liiiitle too much when he’s excited. Because of that we taught him place! This gives him a safe space to go chill out at when his his fam asks. After a couple of weeks training “place” regularly, today was the day we were able to be sitting on the sofa (a major trigger for him lol) and ask him to place! And he did it! In the videos you notice a few things. High rate of reinforcement, patience while Teddy was figuring things out, and a build up of distance! (Sitting farther and farther back in the sofa). So very proud of this handsome guy! Questions on training “place”? Drop them in the comments below🤗
On leash skills are what off leash dreams are made of🤩. Disclaimer: Teddy and I have practiced on leash the past week both inside and where we are now which is why he’s so confident! Always start indoors with minimal distractions before building up the gusto to move outdoors with any command you teach your pup. Next stop, the back yard!🤍🐾✨
Teaching Brody the Break cue! First, make sure your dog knows sit or down. I chose to work the break cue from his down so we can work transferring this over to when he’s on his place! Step1. Put your pup in a down position. Reinforce for the downStep2. Say the break word and once the dog comes tword you say yes and reward with a treat! -as your dog gets the hang of things you can keep him in his down longer and longer until saying his break word.-if the dog gets up without the break word go ahead and reinforce his down and then try using the break word again. I’m this video you can see I reinforce Brody’s down a couple times before giving his release cue. This was our first time working this together and he definitely broke his down a couple times before this! This is completely normal for the first time teaching a dog not only this command but any command. Done be discouraged, your dog will catch on eventually!💕I like to use “break” or “okay for my dogs break words but you can also use “free” or whichever word you’d like to use. Teaching the break word is important because it teaches the dog that he’s now free to get up and do as he pleases! 🤍🐾✨
Graci’s turn for some Breakfast Brain Games! If your dog is springy and has energy for days, this brain game is perfect for them! Set yourself up in a hallway like this and start tossing their breakfast back and forth. You might have to start with your legs a bit closer to the ground for them to start getting the jist. This works eye coordination and agility along with tiring them out mentally and physically! Remember a tired dog is a behaved/happy dog💕. Try this one out and let me know how it goes! Happy training friends🤍🐾✨
Breakfast Brain Games with Goose!Looking for a fun way to get your dogs brain moving? Try scattering their breakfast in your backyard! Not only does it tire their little noggins and sniffers out but it also gives them a job to do! Try this w your pup and let me know how it goes in the comments! Happy Saturday y’all🤍🐾
Brody learning come! This guy would’ve listened to the crack in the sidewalk before listening to someone asking this of him lol He killed his first lesson! Teaching “come”. -let pup walk in front. -say “come” once. Command is “come” not “come come come” *When first teaching, don’t be afraid to wait your dog out. They’ll turn eventually! -once their body turns tword ya yes and reward! As they get more confident, yes and reward for head lifts/taking even more steps tword you. Happy Training y’all!
