Posting for my friend who is currently fostering this pup!

Freyja is a 2 year old husky/malamute mix looking for a forever home. She is good with other dogs & has lived with children 10+. Currently being fostered by Julie of Sit Happens K-9 Academy LLC and has basic training + off-leash recall. I had the pleasure of meeting her today and was very sweet & friendly towards me & my dogs. Overall, a relatively easy going dog that has some training and great temperament. Also she comes up to date on shots and is fixed! Contact Julie at her business page listed above if interested, and please share so we can get this girl a great home! 🐾

I am two days out of back surgery and recovering well so far! With that being said, I still had a class finishing up on the back end that I wouldn't have been able to finish without the assistance of Julie of Sit Happens K-9 Academy LLC & Christina of Mannered Mutts Dog Training. It was a lot for me to relinquish total control to them so we could finish the class, but they did amazing and came up big time for me. I appreciate you guys so much!

We had 4 attendees last night, Gus got MVP, and our buddy Link got Most Improved of the class. Link was very reactive the first two classes & is now doing so much better around other people and dogs. Overall, every pup in this class had great improvements, and I truly appreciate their families sticking with us and having patience considering my injury and all.

I will not be taking new clients in person until after the New Year unfortunately. I plan to be able to offer virtual lessons and/or consultations before Thanksgiving. This time around being my second back surgery in a year, I am going to take this process extra slow and day by day. I truly am grateful for each and every client this year who has trusted me with their pup's training. If you have used my services and were satisfied, it would mean a lot if you would kindly write a review via Facebook or on my Google page. I plan to come back stronger & better after this recovery, thanks again.

I will be getting a revision back surgery on September 4th. I've been working through pain for over a year, as my disc re-herniated about 1.5 months post op. I'm hopeful and more ready than ever to take on the recovery process. I am glad I pushed to this point, as this year I've had my best year business wise. I've had some great successes with clients & their dogs, and I learned more than I could have predicted, not only about dogs but about myself too. I imagine I'll be able to do so much more when I actually have my health back. This has taught me to not take anything for granted & given me mental fortitude in the process. For those who worked with me this year and truly listened to my advice and seen great results, you are so much appreciated. I never would have thought I'd have over 135+ 5 star reviews between Facebook and Google in under 4 years in business. I am nowhere near done yet! Here is to a healthy recovery. I will announce ahead of time when I will be taking new clients. Thank you for understanding.

Kind Regards,
John

Check out all these great pups from our Week 4 Thursday evening class! Everyone is prepping for graduation in the coming weeks, and all have improved a ton. Link especially has made the biggest turnaround, when I first met him he was uncontrollably barking at everything soon as he saw something in the environment. Today he is one of the best in the class! Great job to everyone and thanks to Julie, Christina, & Dan for lending me a hand yesterday. 2 more weeks until graduation 🐾

Congratulations to all of these amazing pups & their dedicated owners for graduating basic obedience today! This class was a lot of fun and these dogs were really on their A game, with Nico especially winning MVP. Thank you to all in the class for sticking with me and making it such a great class, I appreciate you! 🐾

Thank you Julie & Sit Happens K-9 Academy LLC for being such a big help as well!

Let's talk about bringing in a new dog to your home. Whether you have other animals or not, these tips are strongly advised. If you do have other animals in the home, especially multiple dogs, I consider these non-negotiable if you want to maximize long-term success.

✔️Keep all dogs on leash for the first few weeks and introduce slowly. That goes for in the home too especially. Neutral territory walks, leash walks in yard, etc. all help the dogs slowly get used to each other, rather rolling the dice and seeing what happens. You must control the experience and interactions!

✔️All resources should be separated, even if your current animals have shared nicely. That means feeding your dogs in their own area (crate, separate room, etc.) as well as designated 1 on 1 toy time. Bones, toys, food bowls, etc. should all be up and away when dogs are together.

✔️Crate training is a must. Being able to keep the crates somewhat nearby each other will help the dogs get used to one another while in their safe space. Crate training also helps the dogs have time to decompress, as well as give you time to relax and bring them back out on leashes when you're ready.

✔️Never leave the dogs unattended, whether it be you're just leaving the room for a few minutes, or leaving the house for a few hours, it is not worth the risk.

✔️Most importantly, consider your current dogs before adopting or purchasing a puppy. Not all dogs need dog friends to be happy, and it may just be better to keep it solo. If you have an older dog with behavioral issues, or an older dog that likes to lounge, bringing in a hyper and high energy dog may not be a good fit. Consider your current situation and what is best for you all.

Remember, it takes a lot of work initially to get things where you want them to be, it is a marathon, not a sprint!

I hope some people find this information useful. 🐾

📣📣Announcement 📣📣

Hey everyone, I've been quiet on here due to being really busy and dealing with some personal struggles. I am about a year out of back surgery and have seen some severe regression in terms of back pain the last few weeks. I am still thankfully functional, but until I gauge the effectiveness of my recent back injection, I can not schedule any more new clients. For those who have reached out, I have replied via email or let you know my situation already via text. I want to be able to give all of my clients 110%, so until I feel better, I have to keep a lighter workload to be able to give my all and best quality work. Thank you all so much for trusting me with your dogs, and to those considering me to train your pup, I appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.

✔️ Please Note, this does not affect anyone already currently on the schedule!!

We had our Saturday morning class graduate today! These pups from when I first met them all have had absolutely tremendous turn arounds. I'm proud of each and every one of them, and it makes me feel so fulfilled to know I made a difference in their lives. Thank you to all of these great owners for taking my teachings seriously and really getting their pups on track. Also, thank you to Julie of Sit Happens K-9 Academy LLC for being an awesome assistant. I had Julie teach portions of this class so she is comfortable for her first upcoming group next Wednesday, I am very appreciative and proud of you! Congrats y'all 🐾

My boy Dexter can be a pretty wild guy, but believe it or not he has pretty severe phobia of fireworks. I've learned not to force the issue, but to proactively manage it to keep him safe and happy. Below are some simple safety tips for the 4 of July!

✔️Try to exercise your dog before the action starts. This will help aid in relaxation for later.

✔️Keep your dog on a leash if you don't have fenced in area, it just isn't worth the risk of them running off.

✔️Get your dog a safe room or crate. I personally have his crate in a dark, quiet area that somewhat isolates the noise.

✔️Use other sounds to keep them from hearing the noise. (Calming music, television, etc.)

✔️Get enrichment prepped ahead of time so they can enjoy being in their safe area. (Filled Kongs, Marrow Bones, Stuffed Beef Trachs, etc.)

✔️Make sure your dog has their collar secure with their tags attached that has all of your necessary information.

For puppies, I recommend playing firework sounds and other noises on Bluetooth speaker to help desensitize. Initially begin at low volumes and begin to up the volume as they do well. 🐾
